Who would you use?

I just switched over to Markel from Progressive. They beat everyone including Boat US.

When you call has anyone ever been made to pull over and wait for a guy to come or for the most part is it more of a formality

In all seriousness it's easier to cross the border and just stay in Canada.

I think im just going to stay somewhere on the Canadian side. I fish mostly in canadian waters anyway. That way I dont have to worry about this daily check in thing. 

Well I offiically changed my insurance to Markel. They were half the cost of progressive and 20$ cheaper than BoatUs. 

Time to buy a new rod and reel!

Yeah Ben- I bought inline this year since its new for me. I can always upgrade later

I have read articles that you need to check in for the day if you are going to fish Canadian Waters.

on inline planers?

I have 2 CP-LT-762M-20DX Okuma Rods and I was thinking of using them on my outside planers. They seem a bit stiff but i've never run a second set of planers. It's rated  for 12-20lbs. 

If anyone uses these, is it like reeling in a boot when you catch a brownie?

Longline- did they see if you had a throwing line?

Baitnh- what is the fuel capacity of the tank on that rig? I have the same one and I would love to know. How did the boat do?

That's reassuring. I thought the tank was empty and it only took 15 gallons so I was thinking it was tiny. Starcraft has been no help whatsoever.I was thinking of running it dry this year to see what the capacity was and just carry a 5 gallon jug. Thank you for the response. Anyone else?

Trying to find out the fuel capacity of the tank.

Does one meet the requirement of the other? 

If I am fishing the St Lawrence, NYS wants a throwable cushion and Canada wants a buoyant heaving line. Am I ok with just the cushion if I am in Canada or just the heaving line if I am in America? 

Never had a problem using wing nuts except for when I bring the boat out of hibernation obviously....

Note to self- check tightness of wing nut on positive battery terminal........

It's 9:15 and I just got home from a birthday party. Wish me luck im going in.....

The power wire goes into a big harness. Will start at the engine and work forward. 10:30 is my time out

I'll have to get back into the motor. There's a 20 amp fuse that I found that was intact on the motor but I will keep looking. If I had hair I would have pulled it out already

It's an outboard. 90elpto. Gauges work. Rockers don't. That's the baffling part

I'm 95% sure I reconnected all of the battery lines. I've got a separate line for the fish finder and the float switch bilge.

I do not see a separate fuse for the panel except for the button fuses on each switch. Power to the panel comes from the motor. Motor is a 1996 2 stroke 90hp merc.

I'm super frustrated here. Just started up the boat after its winter hibernation. Engine runs great(knock on wood)

So here's my problem. The key starts the engine,

The gauges light up and function, but not a single rocker switch(or the fm radio) works on the panel. Each rocker has its own fuse and it looks like power comes into the panel from a big wiring harness from the engine under the dash(maybe I'm wrong). The rockers look like they are wired together(meaning they all share the same positive and negative and the wires just "jump" from one switch to the next.

I'm really super frustrated and would really appreciate your help.

So I called Boat US to get a Quote. Let me preface this post that I am in the insurance business.

All I can say is that I hope anyone that has this policy actually reads it.

1: $250 per occurrence towing reimbursement. I've been towed 1 time. $250 is very light

2: this is a biggie- you do know your older motor/out drive/outboard is only covered at Actual Cash Value right? As an example, any outboard older than 6 years loses the replacement cost valuation.

3: they will only insure the boat for what I paid for it, which is ridiculous. We all know that you can't replace your boat for what you paid for it. Think about all of the stuff you've added to it. The improvements you've made.
