  1. Was slow in the south end around Sheldrake down to the park. I launched from Dean's cove and headed up north on the west side. Bunch salmon and rain bows mostly small. Got to the drop off where it goes from 120 to 25. Found lakes active in this area. Caught 6 Lakers on pink and silver Stinger Alewife. 5 to 1 compared to Sutton and other colors.

I took one Laker and a LL for dinner. LL came on Sutton 5colors out on a board 30fow. Nothing huge but if you wanna catch a lot. That's where I went. Finger Lakes Angling Zone reported active pike up there. I imagine there far north by the bridge tho.

  2. Tis very light. I usually peel 10 foot off every 2 or 3 fish. I'll lose one now and then but hey that's fishing... I always stop the lure for couple seconds before lifting out of the water. I've caught them right at the boat.

Going to try jigging over on the west side where th Lakers were... if it isn't 3ft waves again lol

  3. In close around 15 fow casting on rock structure. Catch jumbos perch the same way. Some times when weeds are bad I use original floaters. Also 6lbs test for casting gives up the extra distance and really makes you fight them.

  5. Just got off the north end... nadda bite from 10fow out to 130ft. Fished boards with spoon and stick baits over 40fow marked a few fish. Got to the drop off and nothing unless your out in 130fow.

Going to throw the towel in on Seneca till something starts happening.

  6. Mike if you are going with SS 30lb wire you'll need either a twilli tip (fish307.c0m) or a roller tip rod. Also be aware that if the roller tip is a cheap one with the side plate made from soft metal like aluminum if the rod gets a bit sideways in the holder and the water is rough the wire can act like a hack saw on the soft metal side. Good roller tips these days aren't inexpensive (some over $100 or more).....look for some of the old school Allen brand tips if you can. Many of the older boat rods (Seth Green rods) had them on them so maybe garage sale or something like that and cannibalize it for the tip

Ok that's what I thought. Next year I'm going to try run the Seth rigs. You said 5 connections per rod? Then you can stick 3 rods out and still be legal, correct?

  7. Might want to switch dipsys over to wire line and be done with it. You will get more depth and less stretch. With the regular size dipsy and the regular ring it is close enough to a 3:1 ratio to get you in the ball park ( I.E. 240 ft of line out should get you around 80 ft down on a 1.5 setting) up until the point where line drags overtakes your diving capability and the diver planes out. I believe Mag dipsys are closer to a 2:1 ratio. This is obviously not exact but it should help.

Your boards are always going to run higher in the front due to the fact that the drag and weight is behind them as well as your rod tip is pointing up in the air to some degree. Hope this helps.

Yeah it does thanks. Any requirements for the pole? Need a roller tip for wire?

  8. All I catch on Seneca is perch and pike ;)

One small mouth opening day. I can still count all the fish this year on two hands out of Seneca... I'm swamped with work for two weeks... hopefully I can sneak out on the lake one day this week.

  9. Caught a legal salmon on Cayuga on boards 5 colors Sutton 32. I examined what it was eating... black flies. Wonder if they are eating fly hatches. Soon it will be cold enough there won't be any more bugs... also found couple Lakers. Girl friend fixed a stinger spoon with nail polish... it went 5 to 1!

looks like I'll be ready for some good old R&r Saturday if I get a day off... might buy a water probe to figure out those temp breaks. Hope I can get it over nighted
