  1. Sounds like fun. I think we are about 3 hours to Henderson but only a short trip out to the cut. Just have to find a couple of volunteers now.

    Running a 21’ Mako CC.

I’ve been out of Stoney and I think I probably draft a little to much to get on and off the trailer there. Henderson launch is no problem.

    Thanks again.

    Mitch.

  2. Looking for a little info.

I normally fish Henderson Harbour a few days every year. Due to an illness It looks like it will be day trips this year.

I am looking at trying to save a little travel time.

I would be coming down from the Canadian side.

Is it more feasible to cross at I-81and shoot out to Cape Vincent ,launch and hit shipping lanes or run to Henderson and launch there and run out to the finger or mountain or shipping lanes.

    Thanks in advance.

    By the way,great pics.

Also have a Happy July 4th folks.

    All the best.

  3. Most of my braid was bought in Florida. Bulk from my tackle shop in Port Charlotte. Always used Seagaur flouro as leaders. Fair number of toothy critters in the salt. We mostly fish shrimp under a popping cork or freelined. Was just trying to see what everybody’s take on something different.
Haven’t had a chance to get fishing anywhere this year as my wife is sick but doing fairly well. Have a few more screws to finish up the new autopilot and HDS 7 and we are hoping to get out for at least a shakedown on one of her better days next week.

  4. I watched a SaltStrong video the other day that compared Seaguar blue label fluoro and Berkley vanish.
Vanish is about 90% cheaper than Seaguar according to the video.
I have used the Seaguar 15,20,40 and 65 lb flouro fishing in the Port Charlotte Florida area.
I really liked it but it’s not cheap.
The video shows a test done with the Seaguar and Vanish and Vanish seams to do slightly better in the abrasion test they do.
    Anyone ever use Vanish?

  5. Pretty much already installed. Just checking on the wiring.
Paid $499 Canadian for the pilot brand new from Cabelas in Ottawa.
    $749 for an HDS 7 Gen 3
    Have $1500 Can into it.
Most reviews here say they are happy with these units.

    Good morning.

The 2 cables that come out of the helm unit.

The larger cable coming out of the motor drive would be the drive cable and the smaller

cable coming out of the smaller part on the side of the helm would be the feedback?

Just want to make sure I have things right before I power up.

I know this sounds simple but mistakes look expensive.

    Thanks

  7. I don’t remember ever having C&R for closed season fish. We have a 1-800 number for MNR.
Like usual the loudest normally gets listened to the most.
I can’t see how pulling numerous fish off their nests can be good for the fishery.

  8. Get rid of catch and release .
I don’t want to start a pissing match but most of the anglers that were causing the problem were out of province anglers.
As I said out of season here means out of season.
CO’s are busy this time of year but in 40 years on our lake I only got checked for a licence once. We need more COs but that is unlikely to happen.
I try to get to Florida a couple of times a year and there are c&r there in salt water. I don’t fish for those fish as I don’t believe in catch and release out of season.
I know there are going to be incidental catches. That will always happen but in my opinion C&R does way more harm than good.
By the way I know that if I take my opinion and $2 to the coffee shop, they will give me a $2 coffee.

  9. Your laws need to be changed inline with Ontario laws. If it’s out of season it is out of season.
My parents just sold their place on a lake up here in Ontario.
Every year the pinheads are up fishing ‘walleye’ .
Throwing buzzbaits underneath the dock and our boat. Never seen a walleye under the dock or the boat.
Called the Gamewarden 1 day. I told him meet me here , don’t bring your boat , I’ll drive you around.
    Too busy.
I don’t understand why any place let’s you fish when the fish are spawning. It’s not just the gobies.
    It’s everything that swims.
Pretty sore point with me too.
    Have a great day boys.
    Mitch.

  10. For sure. This week is the second week after chemo and things went extremely well. It will be a last minute decision and left up to her. We have a renowned oncologist and had a meeting with him this morning. He was extremely pleased with how things are going so far. Just trying to get away from the same 4 walls.

  11. Thank you. Hoping to get to Henderson Harbour with her for a couple of days next week or the week after between chemos. We try to get down there every year. Would be a good time to get away.

  12. Thanks for the update. Wife was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after I first started this post. Had surgery and second chemo tomorrow . Prognosis is very good. Summer is on hold right now. Hoping to get out with her next week to do a little fishing. Get her mind onto something else.
Plan is for Cape Cod next year at this point.
Hoping to take her south in November to grab a little sun and relax. Hold off winter for a while.
Please keep me updated on how everybody does on the Cape. It will keep me going for next year.
    Mitch.

  13. Looking for Adventure Marine fixed kicker bracket in the USA if possible.  They are based in Canada and the shipping is $60 which makes it a $400 bracket.  Anyone have a used one or a place to buy new in the USA?

You gain 30% on Canadian $ right now.
Might be worthwhile buying from Canada.
