Cheapest and easiest way to slow you boat down is to drag two five gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottom. Not as cumbersome as you might think.

We have some hanging off the sides of our boat.  They work awesome and suprisingly hold up really well.  Put them on 2 yrs ago and still going.  Helps to stabilize the boat in the wind too.

  2. We did pretty good on lakers monday.  200' to 400' of water between taughannock and miliken.  Did 10 over 7lbs with 2 10lbers.   Lots of big marks at 150' down. Had a rigger parked there and two wire divers 180 to 200' out.  Flasher/fly and flasher/spin-n-glos.   All took fish.  Copper and lead core with spoons did nothing.

  3. 350' to 150' of water.  Pretty much between Meyers and Miliken.  Bites from 80' to 150' down.  Flasher fly, spoons and flasher with spin-n-glows they didnt seem to care.  Wire divers and riggers both catching.

  4. Its a Lowrance HDS 8. Works great. We love it, no problems. It is 3 or 4 seasons old now, not the touch model. It has the side imaging and down imaging but we never use it, I wouldn't pay for that again on a trolling boat unless we start chasing the browns and eyes in tight more than we do. The gps works well also. Its a great tool to have to be able to go right back over them and for getting back to port in fog. Just wish the radar wasnt so expensive to add on because that would be awesome in the fog. This boat is my dad's. I have a helix 5 on my boat which works good also. Just doesnt have the gps, got a good deal on it. I may buy a helix7 for that with the gps and run both. Using the 7 for the gps and the 5 for. fish finding. I havent used the helix on ontario yet, just cayuga. I dont see much difference between that and the lowrance on split screen other than a grand! Im sure the lowrance has way more features but I havent messed with it much.

  5. Definitely when they hit the surface. I would have them on for a couple minutes screamin the drag. They just would come unhooked. Most of them not even pulling. I run owner trebles on my meat rigs, some double, some with a single 4/0 gamy in front. They are sharp as hell. I have run double singles but havent hooked one on that yet. May have to rig more of my meat rigs like that next time. Its amazing how much the fish have changed in the last two weeks.
