  1. I took a new Lou member sgilbert14 out today on Cayuga. He is new to trolling so I tried teaching him the little bit I knew. I saw you out Fishstix, I was the one yelling Release Release to you when I seen your rigger go off. At the same time we doubled up. We pulled in the longest skinniest finger lake laker ever. 11 lb. No. not in derby. IMG_6312.JPG

  2. Just be prepared for mistakes to happen because they do. You are never going to net ever fish. My kids have taught me to relax while family fishing. It’s not a competition and we don’t live a subsistence life style. Plenty of food at home, don’t need that fish so we can eat dinner. I have a great story I will share, I take my daughter out for her first trolling experience. Rigger pops and she is reeling in a monster lake trout. I was so excited for her to reel in this monster for her first fish. She brings the fish to back of the boat, I go to net the fish and I drop the brand new net I just bought. I start yelling and at that very moment the spoon rips out of the laker’s mouth and lands into the net, saving my brand new net. I was happy that my net is saved but I then turn around to see my daughter crying because she thought she made a mistake. I reassured her that it was totally my fault and not hers. After I wipe away some tears, she tells me that it will be ok, we will catch that fish next time. She brought the joy of fishing back to my boat. We did catch 9 other fish that day. So remember to make it fun. I have a lot of buddies that tell me horror stories of when they were young and being forced to go trolling with their dads. Make it fun and have you will have a fishing buddy for life. Good luck

  3. Thanks for the advice all. It is greatly appreciated. I will do some measurements before the install to make sure that boom will be long enough. If not I will move riggers around and put an adjustable boom rigger on the back.
