  1. Thanks again! I run all Ande for my mono line too. I had some trouble with my boards roughing up my mono on my coppers and leads so I am changing clips and maybe boards but was also looking at trying Ande Monster as they say it's their most abrasion resistent, however it only comes in bright yellow and blue so that's why I was wondering about line color (and I run their tournament series for walleye which is green, was also considering using 30-40 lb of that for salmon stuff but didn't know about the green color)

  2. Looking for anyone selling spoons, flashers, flies, plugs, etc. In good condition. Fairly new to this and just hoping to start my tackle collection at a better price than all brand new one lure at a time. Let me know what you have!

UPDATE: lots of responses, able to make some deals on plugs and dodgers so mostly looking for spoons now. Never too much tackle though lol

  3. I just run 30 pound main line in the summer/fall with a 8ft  20 or 25 pound flourocarbon leader

    Thanks!

I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this so I'll try here first. Was reading the regs to get familiar with them and have a question...regs say 3 lines (attached to rod or not) per person. Does that mean main lines? Ex: if you run a slider off your main line on say a downrigger does that count as 1 line or 2?

  4. This is my best guess as to where this topic belongs...I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for the help and advice I've received so far in researching for my first trip to Lake O. You have all been very patient and helpful in answering questions, many that I'm sure are basic for seasoned fisherman of the area. Also read some other topics I didn't start or post in and the sportsmenship and respect on here are top notch (not the case with all forums! !!).

Look forward to meeting at least some of you on the water...I learn fast, I may be behind on techniques etc. But when I get on the fish I will gladly repay the help with fishing reports!

  5. I have my braid on sealine x 30 size. If I go wire I will be adding 2 new setups as I use my braid rods for jet divers for walleye too so I gotta keep those around as is

My 300 coppers are on convector 55s.

Will probably do the 400 or 450 on a cold water 553ls. Is there a preference on 400 vs 450?

  6. Currently have 2 rigger rods, 3,5,7,10 color lead, (2) 300 coppers, and 2 braid dipsys. Thinking of adding 2 wire dipsys and maybe a 400 or 450 copper.

No experience with the wire dipsys...is it worth the investment to add to the spread?

What rods and reels are recommended (both brand and size for the reel and weight/length for the rod)?

How much wire line do you guys run on each reel and what knot to connect it? (Use spro swivel like with copper or just straight to the mono)

Have read that wire can be a pain and can be dangerous...what are some tips to look out for?

  7. Been reading a d seeing videos about the kings, lakers, etc at the Niagara Bar around May-ish and want to give it a try. Have a few questions for those of you with experience on Lake O.

-What baits are you usually running in this area that time of year and at what speeds?

-What are the recommended launches and bait shop (s) in the area?

-What is historically the best time of year for fishing this area? (All of may, beginning, end, or none of the above)

The salmon fishing over here in Michigan doesn't usually fire up until summer and Lake O salmon fishery is in much better shape than Lake Michigan anyway so I'm just wanting to get out and chase the big fish earlier in the year.

I love learning but any help to get ahead of the curve is much appreciated, we have already caught some good walleye in MI/OH this year but I can't wait to hook into a fish that pulls back lol

  8. Gotcha, thanks guys! Can't wait to join the fishery and hopefully see some of you on the water!

I have seen some videos of Yakima Mag Lips being used with success on the bar in may, anyone have any experience with these being good or was it likely a plug for their sponsor?

Finally, anything specific you guys do as far as certain classes of fish you release or anything to keep the fishery sustainable? I'm all about conservation and making sure we can enjoy these things for years to come
