  1. I typically don't mind grinding and finding them myself, but I have a short trip wed with a buddy who's been begging to get on some browns. I only target them in the spring, so I was figuring the same program of sticks and spoons. Couple leads, riggers and divers. Was thinking Olcott and see what 15fow looks like and slowly head deeper. Maybe grab a king in the skinny as well. Other than that, I'm just boating.... I'll gladly take any recent intel ! TIA.

Open to different programs. Open to different ports. From the river to the oak.

  2. Couple of boats on Lake Michigan are running large kickers. There is a 35 ft bertram with a 125 hp four stroke kicker. And also a 38 ft tiara running a 90 hp suzuki four stroke.
Lol. That's pretty badass. A 125hp kicker.... love it
  3. Plenty of fish off Olcottb and from the LOC derby listings, good size. The challenge is getting them to bite.
Truth. Plenty of marks on the screen yesterday from 90-150, right out front. Tagged one mature in a short pm trip. I have always found the stager bite to be the hardest grind but it can turn on any day, you just have to be out there. Might catch none, might catch 20.

My opinion, forget the reports, just get out there and fish, they are there and will be for awhile.

  4. 1 hour passed dark I've never had any luck. But maybe I'm doing something wrong and somebody else can give me a hint. Moonshines, jplugs everything glowing. Cant get a bite trolling 1hour after dark default_emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

I should have added to my original post. I've done the first hour of dark a few times and a few hours into the dark as well. Never had a bite. I stayed late a few times in thinking that the king's eyes needed to adjust to the darkness before they wanted to feed again... Plenty of pier guys catch em, but I sure couldn't from the boat. I will only have lines in the water while the lights are on, and once the stagers get in the creeks I'm focused on deer.

If I had to try again, I'd just cast spoons or plugs in tight to the creek mouths.

  5. Anyone ever consistently night fish for stagers?  What cons have you found while doing this, that may go overlooked?  Also do you find it effective enough to consistently try it?  Thanks!
I have a con. The guys in the kayaks that don't feel they need to have any nav or anchor lights on.

  6. I wish you guys all the best fishing for the LOC. As for me, my engine has developed a strange knocking sound, which helped me decide that my fishing season is over and the season of pulling the engine and putting it on an engine stand has started. It is a good thing that I enjoy puttering.
Ugh !!! Better to have it fixed than be stranded out there !
  7. Thanks Andrew!  Your idea of the special Spin Doctor/A-TOM-MIK fly raised a nice chunk as well as caught some beautiful fish. Thank you to Shane Ruboyianes of Dreamweaver and Tom Allen of A-TOM-MIK for helping us with that. Many other generous sponsors have been recognized on "reelin for a cure" facebook page. Steph has still been working each evening finalizing and getting stuff put away. Andrew, landing 3 Matures out of your rig in those conditions is definitely something you and your girls can be proud of!

Very soon(but not until after the benefactor, Breast Cancer Network/Metastatic research is told) the total raised will be revealed. Currently donations are still coming in and shirts being purchased. It can be overwhelming at times for Steph but very gratifying at the same time.

Thank you again to all the participants, sponsors, and donors. Although definitely not expected with teams enduring out of pocket expenses, the thoughtful act by Rick and the Yankee Troller girls to give back will certainly go a long way in helping out the BCN of WNY-Metastatic research organization.

For those looking for more reports from this recent event, or future updates follow on facebook-- reelin for a cure.

My pleasure ! There is already some ideas being kicked around for the 2021 custom lure.... So stay tuned !

As far as the fishing.....I'd rather be lucky than good, and we def got lucky !

Nothing makes any of us LadyO fisherman happier than seeing the look on somebody's face when a giant Chinook hits the deck. I got that 3x that day, and to get compliments from a guy who does that for a living is beyond encouraging!
