  1. Dang. Have I missed ladyO !! Epic day. Flat calm, perfect warm weather, and the king's were hungry.... How many times a year does that all happen !!? Dipsy bite was on fire. Stinger spoons and bayrats cleaned up. West of port in 55-65 most fish were 35-45 down. Solid way to start the season. These fish were healthy and full of energy. 20+ fish day with some serious screamers. Just felt great to back after em !IMG_20200503_174409_307.jpeg0503201329c.jpeg0503200936.jpeg

  2. XR 3.5 5's. Versamax with Jellyhead choke. I downed a bird at 63 a few years ago. Up front, it was the last day and the last hour so I took the first chance I had. This a very, very tight patterning setup so I put a vortex 1moa red dot on. I have shot out to 70 with amazing results.

For the record, I love killing Tom's inside 30 yards and it's always the "plan". Nice to feel confident though.

  3. We stocked a dozen of them and have lost prob 4 over 25 years. Truth be told, it was sad cause these guys are a blast to watch cruise around and the fact they have been in there for so long, BUT there isn't a weed in the place. They will follow the lawn mower to eat the clippings. Kinda makes it hard for the other species to hide.

  4.

Well, this guy went belly up at dads pond so I went to the rescue. Tried to revive him for about 10 min but he was past the point. Reminded me of a late stager cause he had a "mush" to him. Old grass eater was over 25 years old. Sure made my son's day to see a slob like this though. Almost 40#, 43 1/2". He will be repurposed into a hand made recurve covering and potentially a quiver if there's enough left.

  5. As a rookie to lakeO, I can appreciate the guys like Joe. Never met him, and didn't hear about him till this thread, but dang, leaving a legacy behind like the stories shared here sure humbles me. People with real character are not the norm, and it's easy to see what kind of guy Joe was.

    Rest in peace.

  6. For a boat that size I'll assume your multi species. My bow mount (19' sea nymph) is used for all kinds of things. I literally couldn't imagine not having one. It's also another way to get back to the dock if the main or kicker fail as well. Auto pilot is nice, but imo for the big boats. A bow mount can just flat out be used for so many things. Anchor mode, drift fishing, sneaking into a spot etc. My worst day or when trolling into 3's-4's with sustained winds I can get 4-5 hours out of it. If I was diligent in making sure the kicker is doing the pushing it will last even longer. On a normal day trip, I always get the trip out of it, usually 6hours. I have a 24v 60" motorguide paired with my Lowrance but Minn Kota is a fantastic unit as well. 2 Walmart batteries and a good onboard charger.

  7. Wow. It’s all about you guys.
Can’t give up fishing for a couple weeks or a month??
New York State is the Covid capital of the world .
Between 700 and 800 people a day or dying in New York City.
    It’s all about you guys.
Let’s say your buddy Dave lives in NYC and he decides that a couple of buddies and he want to go fishing .
Boat launches are still open so off they go.
Did I say it’s all about you guys?
Dave was exposed to Covid 5 days ago.
So in the truck his buddies are now exposed. They stop for fuel. Some kid working the cash gets exposed.
An hour later they stop for a meal.
    More people exposed.
They get to the launch and fish all day. They come in when you come in.
You pull a 15 lb brown out of your boat and everyone runs over to congratulate you.
Well congratulations, you forget about the 6’rule now you are exposed and going to take it home to your loved ones.
This probably won’t happen but something like this happened because that is how we all got into the ****SHOW we are in now!
    It’s all about you guys.

  8. If I decide to go with aluminum what gauge do you guys think?

I can't remember exactly, but the quote for aluminum was just way too much to justify. Doing a good 3/4" ply and sealing it should last 20 years at minimum, as the factory/ non sealed lasted almost that. Somewhere on here is my build with pics when I renovated my entire interior.
  9. Salmon gear to walleye gear... There is some gear I use dual species like my rigger rods and wire dipsys. Other than that, I focus on leadcores for eyes.

Salmon - 4 wires and 2 riggers is a great program and fairly easy to manage

Walleyes - as many leads on planer boards as I can legally send, maybe 2 dipsys if the bite is hot and 1-2 riggers.

Brand of rod isn't as important as brand and class of reels is, imo. I've been a fan of the convectors for value reasons. A medium action rod for dipsys with twili tips, and at least 1' difference in length. A Med or ml rigger rod, and board rods I also like a M - ML depending on the backbone of the rod.
