  1. Morning, ordered some new rods for my wire divers and they came with the roller tips already installed.  Went out last night for the first time with them.  Other than being a bit stiffer than i thought they would be they worked good.  I did set these up with mono backer/wire/braid/fluorocarbon leader.  This worked well.  The Dipsy was clipped to the braid with a offshore clip with peg by wrapping the braid around the clip once.  Lets us adjust the distance behind the diver as well as remove the diver one handed for ease of netting fish.  They tripped as they should on clearing lines.  But my concern is on the roller tip.  They swivel a bit in each direction off the centerline of the rod.  On clearing the last line i had the braid jump the roller and get off to the side.  Was a easy fix and did not damage anything but if the wire did it not so good.  The braid and wire are only 0.001" different in size.  Used the Twilli tips in the past and am not opposed to it again just curious if anyone else has had line jump the roller and get between the roller and guide and if there is a easy solution to using them without that happening.

  2. Lines in about 6:30 just east of the channel. 100 fow. Dropped a rigger 105 with a NBK and NBK slide. Other rigger had a spin doctor wonder bread and purple fly. Port dipsys out 180, 3 setting with green/glow spin doctor and green meat head. Starboard out 210, 3 setting dark green/gold chrome back with dark green fly. Trolled west keeping our slightly. Tough troll with a 16' boat. Trolling motor kept coming out of the water. Down temp was 44 to 50 depending on speed. Had to keep it about 2 mph. Any faster was hard to do anything. Deep rigger went in about 120. Dad grabbed it and fought a nice king a bit over 20 lbs. Got that one in the box and reset. Kept going west and the same rod went, this time on the slider. I fought that one and Dad cleared the other rigger and port dipsys. Starboard dipsys went off and we had a double going. Did the over/under dance a few times. Ended up killing the kicker and just ran the trolling motor. Got mine to the boat and it made a couple more runs at the net. Dad set his down and tried to net mine but it got off. Same size as the first. 10 more minutes and we got his to the boat and had to hand line that one it. Just under 20 lb. We pulled the gear and where back at the launch before 9, had some other obligations. Marked quite a few fish today. Hope everyone else is having good luck out there.

  3. Lines in about 6:30 100 fow, cold up high. Set riggers at 50 and 40, dipsys out +/- 100. Saw some fish on the surface so 2 deep diving flicker minnows on the big boards. Headed north only saw a few. Came back south to 100 and headed west. Took a eating size king on a slider. Mag nbk. Reset and a flat line went off. Lost that one but looked like a 18" steelhead. Didn't get that line back in and the slider went again. Fish went in front of both riggers. Got it off of one and broke it off the second. That was a better one. Tough when they charge the boat like that and are that shallow. So if anyone finds a mag nbk let me know! Fished till 10 and nothing else hit.

These work fine. Greg has put diagram and a video clip in other post. Basically put 1st lure down on your DR weight, then put down a bit and attach the same rod line into the red clip portion, close clip. Attach favorite lure with lead to other end of clip. Basically a fixed stacker until fish is on. Hope this helps. Great guy to deal with.

Any chance that diagram is available?  did a search and could not find it

  5. Morning. We where lines in the water about 630. Spoon/flasher fly/meat. Started little over 100 and worked out to 200. Saw some fish and bait scattered. Did take one shaker king I. 180, 225' out on a wire dipsy 3 setting with meat. Had to pickup up about 10 for other obligations. DEC fish survey was in the channel on the way in. Nice day out. Boats where concentrated early then started breaking up. Only saw a couple out deep.

  6. trying to avoid running inlines but may end up going that route.  how are you guys running long lines off your big planers?  I only plan on running one line per board with a diver rod and rigger rod on the same side.  6 rod spread.  my other option is double divers.  if i go with the long lines how are you deploying them to not get caught in the dipsy line?  was thinking let out the 50-100 of line with lure.  attach the weight, let out the 50-100' needed to get to the depth we are after but im not sure if that would be enough to clear the wire.  understanding the wire is down and out at an angle and the lines off the boards should be shallower at the lure to not cause any issues when a fish hits.  any advice would be great.  thanks
