  1. Bought a used trollmaster 3 off eBay and installed it this week. There was still quite the jump in speed. Did some more digging and found some have had success adjusting the idle mix screw. Pulled the brass plug and made some adjustments to the screw. Backing it out and manually giving it some throttle. Found a spot where it advances smooth and does not jump or stumble. Backed it out a turn or more to get there. The. I adjusted the idle speed to 975-1000 RPM(with one of those cheap tiny tach add ons). Lastly I moved the point where the trollmaster cable attaches closer to the pivot on the arm. Testing it in a bucket it seems smoother overall. Will check it in the am on the lake.

  2. Was able to get out with dad for a couple hours first thing. Bay and lake were perfectly flat. We set up just off the pier and went west to Maxwell. 1 one a green and yellow stickbait before we where completely set up. Another just as the water started going green before the creek. Both motors ran great. New planer mast and boards worked well. Need some tweeks but they should be easy to do. Overall great first trip

  3. Ok, got home from work and looked into this. Tried turning the dial and same thing. Pulled the tach and looked closed. Googled what the 60hp merc should be and found it needed to be on 6p. Not 4c.  Looks like it's working as it should now. Fingers crossed we will see in the morning. Thanks for the help

  4. Anyone know what max capacity is for these? I can't find a model number. My father in law gave them to me,he never used them. He got them from his father in law. They are installed and worked last year with 10 pound torpedo type weights. More blowback than I would like.

  5. 2011 tracker pro guide 16 wt. 2012 60 HP EFI merc.  When the boat is off the tack stays up in the 1500 range. Running sometimes it seems to be right at idle other times it seems to read high. Usually when the throttle is maxed out it's showing well over 7000. I know that's not right. Anyone seen this before and have a solution? Be nice to have it working right. Thanks

  6. My kicker is rigged with remote throttle.  I use this in conjunction with my TM to maintain speed and heading.  The trouble i run into is the ease the throttle lever gets bumped or just moves while in use and the RPM's move, normally down.  I know there are electronic throttle controls systems out there, just wondering if there is any manual twist knob type throttle controls even if it is engine mounted.  Thinking like some of the older equipment and tractors had.  Seems like this would hold the setting better and possibly be able to fine tune the speed more easily. Thanks

  8. thank you.  anyone backing up the knot at the board with a washer to help distribute the weight?  may not be needed just curious.  also what is the target length of each leg of the rope?  thinking the loop needs to be forward of center?

  9. I built a skeg ext for my trolling motor, I lock the kicker straight and just under desired speed.  then use the trolling motor to get to target speed and use the speed control to maintain.  adjust accordingly for current and wind ext.  then just set the heading and the trolling motor does its thing to maintain the speed and heading.  seems to work for me.  the extra surface area on the skeg of the trolling motor definitely helped maintain the heading better.

  10. I guess my question then is why charge the main motor crank battery also? It will charge while running to the fishing spot. The downriggers pull from there also but that is minimal. I would not be looking to completely charge the TM batteries but keep them from depleting as quickly.
