  1. Hey Guys,

I was out there with you, we pulled a small steely and a nice king about 25 lbs. on the bogo grip and that was it. When we were running in around 11 am we heard someone had a king out 950+ ft. on the wire!  We've had some hot fish before but as soon as they hit 700 ft. I'm slowing down the boat to a crawl... The new depth raider worked great but it seems to be .2/.3 mph slower than the fishhawk. Has anyone else noticed this? Also what lb. weight do you run with the coated cable because it doesn't seem to cut the water very well. One last thing. Mark, when you came out were you marking any fish around the bait, because my graph was clean other than the bait, might have to make another purchase.

  2. Thanks for all the input guys. Sponge do you un-bolt your probe from your terminator connection after each use to remove it? I wired it a little different so I hope it works this weekend. I'll let everyone know and post if all is well.

  3. Gambler,

No I don't break down the rods I actually bungy the swivel to a rod guide to keep constant tension on the wire. Mark, good to know, I guess I won't put on the twilly until I see some guide wear. No problems in 3 years so far on those ugly sticks.

  4. Dan,

Thanks for the link but it doesn't show that the probe is removable. I walked down the dock last night and all the charters that are running them have the probe permanently attached. Is there a link to a removable probe one?

  5. I have been reading up on the correct install of the DR and have some more questions. When using the Walker Terminator with the black's release, do you use the release to connect the probe? Do you hook the lighter gage wire to the bottom of the probe and then to the cannonball? If you do how do you run an additional release off the downrigger? Is it run below the probe? I have been running a Fishhawk unit for the past 5 years and we run a Black's release above the probe. If anyone lives in the Rochester area and has this set-up, maybe I can swing by and take some pictures for clarification. Man I feel dumb...

  6. I have been running wire for a few years now and had to re-tie some swivels tonight. I have been running ugly sticks without twilly tips. When trying to re-tie tonight the wire kept curling up uncontrollably. Does adding the twilly tips help alleviate this curling?

  7. Finally got out early this morning and it paid off. We ended up 16 for 20 with the largest being a 20# king. Had another teanager, alot of 1-2 year olds, 3 lakers and a bow. All fish in 75-100 fow from the surface to 60 ft. down. Really hot between 6-9 am then slowed for the last 1 1/2 hours. The fish hit everything we threw at them with the two largest kings taking the wires, spin dr & flies. (What else).

    Awesome fishing!!

  8. Do you need to run out all of the copper to the backing like lead core or can you run a 400 ft. copper reel out only 200 ft?? When you run copper off in-line boards do you tighten down the release so you reel in the board first, unclip it and then fight the fish? Attomik recommends 9' ugly sticks on their site any other rod recommendations?

Thanks for any help you might have.
