November 21 am 37 low 44 high S wind 10 Cloudy skies Lots of action this morning just not nothing to shoot at. Saw about 15 or so with 3 of them being bucks. All youngsters. A bit of shooting right around daybreak but after that it was very quiet. Certainly no where near as much shooting as yesterday. Headed home today at 11 and never saw another hunter. November 21 32 low 48 high S wind 5-10 Clear skies becoming partly cloudy Opening day gun season... Lots of deer seen throughout the day. 40+. 7 total bucks but every one of them was a year and half old. Lots of fawns by themselves yesterday. Two sure signs the lockdown is in full swing. Well one more day until the orange army invades the woods. I just wanted to take a minute and wish everyone good luck and be safe. By the looks of things the weather tomorrow looks to be the best it has been in ten years for the opener. And whoever asked for cold weather, it looks like an artic cold front will be settling in mid week. I am not looking forward to what gun season normally brings but I am looking forward to putting in some time on stand. My good fortune early in the season means that my sets are well rested and I have high expectations for what is to come.

I lived this for 20 years. I always spent the first few days on southern tier property and then hunted my normal stuff for the rest of the season. Down there the "locals" literally would start doing drives at 8:00 am on opening day. I hunted with them before and I knew when and how they pushed everything around me. They have a am schedule and a pm schedule and do it all through gun season. It 100% killed the season for me after that opening weekend.
