Jack, There can be good fishing in either direction Look for the colored water. Also stay close to shore and keep an eye out for any temperature breaks. The slightest difference in temp could be everything. I hope this helps Good Luck!
Lou
Yea what he said
Folllow the colored water. If the wind is out of the west then troll east, folllow the out flow of the creek and fish in any colored water you see. Best to fish durring or after it rains, produce more fishable water. Good luckNot always true
1st off it was great to have the boat start right up and run like a top and not have any issues with anything equipment
Well the wind was out of the west on Thursday when I did my shake down run (solo). Got a really late start (10:15am) With the west winds and me going solo I wanted the winds at my back while setting up. Went just past the first point between the creek and the pump house and saw some nice colored water. Started to set out the boards and if you have ever been out in even mild wind without auto pilot and the top up & side curtains all up (it's like an open umbrella at times) in a relatively light boat you know it doesn't take much to move you around a bit got set up and was on top of the creek quickly
Saw the nice colored water and temp 47+ wanted to make sure I got back here soon but wanted to see what the creek had to offer too. Made a pass across the creek that was dark brown almost "poop" colored turned back and got this small mouth
That was it for the creek area so I headed for where I started out. Got back there, changed lures to a brown trout colored rapala and a Jr. Thunderstick in one of the new UV colors (I'll post a pick later) and started to get some fish immediately but the winds and specifically heading into them was tough while fighting fish with the boards out and keeping the boat in the colored water area was a bit tough by the time I got the fish in the boat, hook removed, lines back in and everything back in there spots.
Along with the bass I managed to land 5 browns nothing bigger than 5# and had 2 other fish on including a double that got off before I had a chance to get the other pole in my hands and had a fish take a shot while letting the line out but missed it and was off the water by 1pm or so.
Here's 2 of the fish
Well it's off to Maryland for 9 days good luck to everyone that gets a chance to get out hope the weather straightens out for ya.

 I'm in for May, barring anything crazy happening at work
The Rain and winds didn't stop us from hanging around and offering Hank all our know how and advice on how to fix boats last year. Can't we all come down and help Hank fix things on boats anyways? He loves all of us hanging around when he's working
How come somebody needs a ladder to climb into your new boat Bob

SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS
====================
Got on the big lake for the 1st time this spring on Jax boat. Steady pick most of the morning mostly off the boards 130 ft back and up to 175 ft back. Took 3 or 4 shots on the riggers back 45-50 down 3 or 4 feet. Green and black spoons 9don't remember what spoon (Jeremy might ) Sticks were Renosky in a perch color, perch colored flat rap, j-7 black and silver rapala, green and black yo zuri and a red goby Kaboom took our biggest fish a 14+ lb brown
At least half of the fish we caught had some sort of mark or scare from being drop backs that had fin and tail issues or fish that had lamprey marks and one even had a lamprey on it but fell off before we could get our knives to it . Do they treat the water for lampreys in Sandy creek? Seems like they aren't doing a very good job of it if that's the case. Interesting to see all the different colors and shapes/lengths of the fish this time of year
the 1st fish of the season for me 14+
What was left of the lure
Jax with one the pretty browns Jeremy you hiding behind that fishy
Renowsky you get back to work

Tom I almost forgot one of the best parts of the day was meeting your father in law Bob Durf and hearing the story of how what he believes happened to my cousin Gary in his ice fishing tragedy last year on sodus. Not to mention the ham wammy with deep
fried home fries at his restaurant

I've been fishing here on opening day for 20+ years with a friend. We have always had some kids with us including my son who has been going for about 18 years now It's always great when the kids get a fish. Here's a few pics from the day.
This is my sous chefs son (Robert) and his second year fishing with us at Powder Mills park. His 1st catch a nice 14" brown trout . He took the brown trout to school and got to answer questions about it to his class
He got another one
the bosses son finally got one after a long time of getting his chops busted by a few of us
Part of the gang including my now 25 year old son in the yellow rain poncho.
Part of my catch
We have an older gentlemen that we have become friends with over the years (Big Jim) that fishes a hole next to us who I netted a fish for on Friday. It was great to see the happiness on his face when I netted that fish for him even though it was only about 12 inches. He later told me as we were leaving that his wife isn't doing well and has cancer . I certainly hope she gets better and hope to see him there next year with good news.
As much as I enjoy fishing the big O for kings, it's days like this every year (getting up around 2:30AM to be one of the 1st guys in the park) and seeing guys like Jim or kids asking "is it time to fish yet" or "when can we start to fish" and catching their fish that make opening day at PM Park a lot of fun

Thanks guys for all the B-D wishes!
Bob and Shawn some day I will get those pics and destroy them
