  1. We had the pleasure of assisting Captain Mark B. from Reel Crazy on a shakedown cruise last night. The water was dead calm and extremely clear. We managed two browns off the boards East of Forest Lawn. The biggest was @ 8 lbs. One on a rebel minnow bait and the other on a green/silver 44 size spoon. The hospitality was much appreciated Mark !

This morning on Mike's Tundra we managed one more brown off the boards on a natural rapala J-11 near Webster Park. Fairly slow all the way to nine mile point and back to Hedges. Then the supposed south winds went west and pounded us. Early day back at the dock at about 10:30.

On Friday the Sea Lion did very well working a nice mudline east of Hedges. They boated a mixed bag of a dozen and dropped few more all on minnow baits. The clear water in close is dictating an early/late bite for sure. We swung out to 20-25 and worked some diving minnow baits and the riggers, but we got blown off before we could give the program a decent chance. As I look at the lake now we may have another mudline in the AM, as it is really ripping from the NNW. T-storms are on the horizon !

  2. Bennett Standard Trim Tab Kit Part#189 18†x 9â€(without control switch) I bought the whole mess a few years ago at the marina for $473 w/tax($589 at West Marine now!) and only needed the hydraulic pump. Included brand new in the box are the tabs, actuators, wiring harness, all mounting hardware and instructions. You need the hydraulic pump ($314) and rocker switch ($69) from West Marine for a complete installation. The first $150 cash takes it.

  3. We wanted to look at different sea gulls than those at Forest Lawn and run a different program than charging the beach, so.... we ran from IBAY to the Genny at about 7:00AM. We found a nice temp break(41 to 49) and a good color line off the jettys in 25-30 fow. Almost combat fishing for a while, but then everyone there charged the beach on the East side. We put the boat into auto pilot(me) and did the great counter clockwise circle route. The cookie cutter cohoes were very active. All board bite with chartreuse being hot again..J-9 straight Rapalas, Yozuris and deep divers 130-150 back, speed 2.6-3.1. No bites on the orange stick baits or the riggers. Fish were in the 3-6 lb. range. We managed our first double of the year. We ended up 12 for 12 for a few hours of work. We slid out to 50+ fow to see if any solid break is setting up, but we only saw a gradual drop to 38 from the 49 deg. mark. Looks like the ENE blow is setting up for the next few days, so it will be a new ball game once again when it settles down. :yes:8)

  4. We got out for a few hours last night and water temp was 52 deg at Oklahoma Beach and dropped to around 48 deg once you got past Forest Lawn. A large change from the 38 deg. water last Sat. We trolled East to Hedges at about 2.6 and the high sun and extremely clear water were not conducive to the best bite. We worked between 10 and 20 fow with no takers. We turned back on a West troll, charged the beach and managed two healthy browns off the boards in 7 fow right at sundown. The larger fish made two nice aerial displays for a new angler we had on board! Nice night with calm conditions and a beautiful sunset. Browns took fire tiger and a chartreuse minnow baits. Once the sun went down the air temp. followed. Wear your long johns for the ride back in ! Remember to take a kid fishing and introduce them to a great resource in our area. :o

  6. 8) We ran the shoreline from Oklahoma Beach past Hedges under a sunny blue sky and flat conditions. Water temp near the bay was 41 and it slowly decreased to 38 near Hedges. Water color was a nice green and the fish were cooperating. We went 11 for 12 with a nice mixed bag. 2 Atlantics, 3 cohoes, 1 rainbow and the balance brown trout. Biggest fish was a nice clean brownie in the 9 lb range. Some browns had lamprey marks. The rainbow appeared to have recently come out of the stream with high fin wear. 2 fish off the riggers on NK spoons and rest of the otter boats with minnow baits. Chartreuse/green was the color of choice. A few taken on the flour. orange. A mix of Yozuri's and Rapalas. The wind picked up from the ENE and the fishing also picked up on the Westerly troll back. Water was much clearer past Hedges. The deep side boards seemed to be more active. We ran from 8 - 20 fow. A nice start to the season.
  7. The salmon were active off I-Bay in two distinct zones, 70-85 fow and 110-125 fow over the three day period. The first day we fished in the evening 5-9:00 and the other two in the morning 05:00-10:00. The bite was priimariy a rigger bite with fish taken between 35 and 75 ft. down. No real pattern on colors, but fish were taken on NK habeneros, silver/green combos and some purple/black combos. The wire divers fired early on Friday and went silent until late morning on Sunday. We took several fish in the 20# range, on Spin Doctor/Siggs combos and on a spoons. The larger fish seemed to relate more to the bottom. We marked many fish in the 35-40fow range and caught only two year olds there. We took fish from all four year classes and saw too many lampreys attached to fish to be comfortable! Bait was sporadic and noted mainly between 85 and 100 fow. We had several fish in the 10# range dive over 20 feet on the baits. We did finally manage to take a few fish on the 10 color cores off the boards, but they were far a few. We never ventured past 150 fow, as we had plenty of activity closer to home. The NW to SE troll seemed to be the best, but we did take larger fish on a SW troll when it got rougher. 2.2 to 2.7 on the SubTroll. It was only a salmon bite with no trout in sight. We saw very few boats in the three days, so you can't catch them from your living room guys! Catch a big one next time out.

  8. Looking for a new adventure and sick of pounding the beach, we blazed offshore to see if a temp break was established, as it was last week in 90 fow.(42 - 37/green to clear water) The East wind has stacked the ice water on the beach. We had 47 at the mouth of I-Bay and gradually dropped slowly to 39 deg. at 175 fow. No debris line or significant color change. The strong South wind may have blown the warm layer off to Canada. We made a slow troll from 120 to the mouth of the Genny with no action. The water on the beach was 45-47 deg. when we returned. The previous evening we worked the river water break from 45 - 53 deg. with no action. We did manage to catch a 12 ft blow boat from the Rochester Yacht Club that sawed off our planer board line after taking a 90 deg. turn out of the river East. Correct me if I am wrong, the overtaking craft( sail or power) must yield the right of way to a less maneuverable craft, such as a trolling vessel, even if the vessel being overtaken is under power. I think the commodore at the RYC should compensate us for our Yozuri's !!!! Catch a big one guys ! And hey, you in the twin engine Grady, let's be a bit more courteous next time and give way. I know you wanted to have your butt pasted to the color line, but it is a big lake !

  9. We headed straight out offshore and set up in 425 fow. One knock off after setting only one rod. Nobody home. Temp was 42 deg. down 90. We took a dandy rainbow in the 10-12# range 76 down over 450 fow and another skipper king in the same area. NK green w/black & glow ladders. Nothing on the wire divers or the screen. We took another teenager king in about 280 fow on the same set up, but down 90. We saw more screen activity between 200 and 300 fow on the way in with ample bait and fish interspersed. No particular troll direction seemed to be better. Mike attempted to disrupt the magnetic continuum by placing too many E-Chips in the lake at the same time. Once they were back in the boat the fish became more active !

Ben. Where are you? We were biting this evening.....we were biting this evening.............

  10. 20 fish boated by 8:00AM. Many doubles. Lost count after that. At the dock by 10:30. Mostly straight stick baits off the boards. Flour. Orange, Chart. Blue. Less than 15 fow. Several nice cohoes and the rest browns. Largest 8 lbs. Water temp 42 deg. and the color was off green.

Ben, where are you? It's Saturday and we've been waiting for you since sunrise. He's not coming !! We were biting this morning. We were biting this morning. .......click........buzzzzzzzzzz.
