SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS We gave the inside water a good try for the first time this season, as there seemed to be better numbers of fish jumping/surfacing in shallow, and some good colored water from the wind the past 2 days. We only landed 1 for 4 in the am, but moved back in shallow in the afternoon and they were more active, as we landed 2 out of 3 in the last hour of yesterdays trip. #4 Green glow, and silver bullet J-plugs 90-120 back were the best, and we got some bites on mag spoons on the riggers 40-50 back and 5 feet down. The fish seemed to like the faster 2.5-2.8 gps speed, so we didn't run the J-13 rapalas. Be very carefull in shallow this year as the water is lower, and you can't get as shallow as you could in previous years. Going out the East side of the channel is dangerous as there is something only 2-3 feet down, and even going out the west side of the channel the bottom is showing that it comes up to only 4-5 feet on the fishfinder!!! Just wanted to give a quick report of our first shot on the wall this year.

  2. It was a tough day out there today. We worked our way all the way out to the 29 line and only got 2 3 year olds, and 3 steelies. We only had 2 rigger bites all day!, so I would say you guys did pretty good. It's been a little tough since the big blow on Friday. Lets hope it comes back together tommorrow. All but one of our keeper fish today came on 210-260 spin doc/fly divers.

  3. Like Paul said, the smell in the harbor is as when the water level drops over the summer, all of the algea that has been growing on the piers over the year gets exposed to the sun, and dies/rots. Have you ever pulled weeds/grass clipings and left them in a wheelbarrow for a few days? They don't smell too nice either after a few days rotting in the sun and being rained on!!!!

  4. PS II. If they have a pool, it's the only one you are going to find in the immediate area. If you can trailer your boat , the Golden Hill State Park launch ramp is straight North of there, and launching there would put you right between the Oak, and Olcott for fishing!!!! Otherwise staying there would be a 25-30 minute drive to the Oak. - Mick

  5. Way to go. I just got back home from there, and couldn't get any of those toothy critters to bite. :( No eyes either, but a ton of dink perch and some smallies and gills kept the rods moving all weekend to keep the kids happy. I hadn't been down in 3 years, so it was fun just to be there again. We stayed at Yerkeys, and mainly fished outside the weedline between the bell tower and we wan chu. Gongrats on the ski!!!!

  6. Thanks guys. Had the day off, and worked on the boat, spent time with my family, and went to bed early to get up and fish hard for our clients today. Instead of a spoon Ray send me any of your old glow ghost j-plugs, as I'm fresh out, and have the feeling I'll be needing them soon.
