  1. Two points.

    The Power Authority is using NY's ability to sell bonds that jeapardizes other needed projects to pay for this stuff that is economically not viable.

    Nobel Energy this past week stopped building two wind farms in Allegany, NY and Centerville, NY because they are money losers.

    Just my 2 cents. :no::no:

  2. The walleye do not spawn on the time set by the DEC closed season rules. They spawn when the water temperature and their metabolism happen to the right conditions. In Lake Erie Eastern Basin, they spawn in late May some years and in Ohio waters they spawn a month earlier. The success of the spawn is less important than the success of the fry and fingerlings reaching a survivable size. Predators such as perch can decimate any successful hatch. We must remember to keep the perch and smelt numbers under control if you want good walleye fishing.

  3. Do not use "automotive service" batterys. With the pounding a boat gives the batterys, the cell plates separate and will kill your battery. You must get "marine service. If your boat does not start, do not use your car battery in the boat as when and if you get back, your vehicle may not start when you put it back.

  4. The elevation of the antenna from the water is the key. If your 8 foot antenna is ten foot off the water, your range is one mile for every half foot above the water, meaning twenty miles since "line of sight" is what works. If the other guy has the same setup, and weather conditions are right, you can be forty miles apart and "may" communicate. A three foot antenna does not cut it for range either. The Coast Guard has an antenna high on a ridge above Lake Erie that reaches from Detroit to the St. Lawrence Seaway. Their stations have high antennas as also a helicopter has the best height to receive your signal.

  5. I found that the fill hose gets hard with age and can leak gasoline into the bilge area. You fill the tank up, raise the bow up to drain the bilges and gasoline leaks from the fill hose where it enters the tank.. It is hard to access and tighten. I gave up on the large tank and use six gallon portable tanks now. I can fill them up, close the vent and do not have to deal with gasoline fumes, moisture and alcohol fumes.

  6. Thr parks will be open till the paychecks start bouncing. This happened to my Grandfather during the depression. His school district paycheck was no good. He cashed it at the coal dealer who used it to pay his taxes. Wal Mart will cash the checks of state employees for 25 cents on the dollar. They will use the checks to pay the sales taxes to the state.

  7. The alcohol that vents from your tank will dissolve many pastics and glues on nearby articles that are valuable. My six gallon tank that I left the vent open on in my boat caused my Cannon Downrigger Plastic case to stick to the carpet on the floor of the boat. The plastic beads on several worm harnesses were stuck to the rug also. To top it off the glue on the carpet let loose the carpet and now I have to reglue it back down.

  8. How can this agency use our ability to sell New York State Bonds to finance a money losing project that will not pay for itself. Our ability to build roads, bridges, schools and other infrastructure will be severely impacted by this scheme to enrich this beaurocracy. The interest rates for future bond sales will be so high we can not build anything else in New York State.

  9. If it is in the high use season, you can get away without it, but if you leave your boat sitting on the high humidity waterfront and your fuel tank vent is open to the atmosphere, the daily temperature changes expand then contract the volume of fuel and outside air is induced into the tank, water will be accumalated in the tank due to the E10 alcohol and its affinity to suck up the water and then separate in the tank. The water is on the bottom and when you start up, you get a slug of water and you are stuck at the dock for your day off.
