You can buy the new brass clutch tabs from big john. Real easy to change. My old big jons did the same thing and that solved the problem. I think I still have some new ones. I will check. I see you are in vestal. I am in Greene, If I can find the ones I have you can have them.

That is actually the combo power plant I was looking for in my amberjack 270. I have more power than i need with my 270 aj hardtop with bridge with twin 5.7's Those 4.3's should be a great combo and the single should troll very economically. Go for it!

I always start with the top of the trailer fenders just barely covered with water. That seems to be a real good place to start. Gives you a good visual reference. Adjust to find that sweet spot from there. Most boats I ever launched seemed to be very close using this a s a reference. Good luck.
