  1. Tom & Mark,

Here is a good one for you river/bay guys. It gives you the water temp. in 35 feet of water off the ponds/edgemere dr . The temp reading is ON THE BOTTOM of the lake in 35'. I use it in spring time (NOW) and during any upwellings later in summer (or after ALL east/northeast or strong south winds . If tells me to fish east or west before I even leave the house.

PS King me wont mind but the charter fleet fished this area fri-sat with 42 degree bottom temp. :D

It also gives bottom temp off buffalo in lake erie (mouth of niagara. in 30 ft.

  2. You guys fall for this bet every year! East of Cleveland (Lake Erie) the shore line temp ran from 62-66 DEGREES (Cleveland is hardly at the western end of the lake in an near shore puddle) Charter boats reported around 50 degrees surface temp from the US shore all the way to the canadien shore from Sandusky and Islands west to Toledo.Today is only Sunday, Yankee want to go double or nothing on 70 degrees on mon? What is left of the ice at the east end will be sitting in 40 degree water soon Niagara Bar fishing will be right on depending on the winds and warm rains this week. Good luck as I know many of you will be there first week of May.

  3. Tom,

Thanks!!!! I forgot to say replace handle with rope(very important tipp-dry wallers nightmare)

You 2 are both from rochester AND fish alone sometimes :?: :?: :?:

If you 2 got together that would leave more buckets out there on the free market for musky bob and ray k to wear on their heads around the house or something

  4. I am with Chinook on this also. I run 6 cannon Digi troll IV high speeds. I sell the telescopic booms every upgrade, and run the original 4' and 6' metal tube booms (which are currently being re-painted gun metal gray metalic :D ) #3 rig has bottom tracker unit and #1 and#6 outside riggers have slave feature. I do like the new 250' retrieve/auto up feature for Pro-am tournaments. Second spoon set on hardtop is minutes from full pattern change. Started with PROOS riggers in early 1980,s and had cannon,s since. Minimal trouble and easy getting service. Positive ion control we use more to help reduce negative effects of boat and more of a fish distruptor/mover than an actual attractor. Ion controll would better be suited for salt water.

  5. Ray,

I appologize for not making it there on TIME.

I was late BUT I did here the hit of the 25 man crew today was a short guy dressed in camo from CORNING! ALL my charter buddies told me about YOU  A huge thanks to you and all who did show up and help. They said it went fast with all the help this year. (Even though someone STOLE all the tops for the pens) Thanks again to everyone there AND to everyone who donated $ $ $ to this L.O.U. board. Half of money donated here goes to pen rearing projects like stolen tops /tie raps/netting every year, ETC

  6. Steve,

I am working in AM, BUT will cut out as early as possible to help.

ANY manpower you guys can give, really-really-really helps.

It is MUCH easier to move and install long nets on these frames with as many hands as possible.

Even if any one can show up just to stretch out netting and only put on the tie raps.

PS with this crap weather what else are you going to do for a few hours tomorrow?

  7. R K

You need to watch some television during the daylight hours or try some radio :?

Level it has been cold and windy up here for all april and not many guys are putting in time on water yet. ALOT of small 2-3 pound fish being caught by charters mainly up west on shoreline. Mud line is solid out to 12-15 ft of water were it turns to 39-40 degrees instantly. Give it 1 more week for at least tolerable fishing conditions

  9. Larry,

I just talked with Steve (king me) yesterday and he is going to be at olcott for at least a month or so. I would give him a call. Great boat and great captain(he will probably throw in the good time/many laughs also :P )

His web link is on this site top left(green)

I would recommend a full day also, gives captain run/location options.

  13. Sorry late,

First big catch of all browns I received this year was along Iron. Bay shore line(tight) in 2 hours , a few big browns mixed in and best news of all was that ALL fish/ALL sizes had no fresh lamprey hits on them. Concern is with less lake trout to hit (hatchery problems & disease last 2 years)and most lakers left going deeper/darker waters(sculpin left/cleaner- brighter go deeper). Worried lampreys switched to easier prey browns/salmon some bows, were ever these fish wintered over in the lake past 4-5 months. Not the case so far.

Sandy creek 2 boats in tight east of creek in front of house AM and PM tue 27th. Seen small fish boated.

Oak orchard This april 1st weekend splash down for a few charters

Waiting to get coho catch reports to see if last years record catch holds true again!
