  3. I've yet to meet anyone that has fished quinte that doesn't like Quinte Welcome Steve
  4. Hi sigpig ; Quinte eh? Talk about having the best of both worlds . living in a great part of the province and on the best walleye fishery in the world . I'm jealous . I'll be making my way there come May opener .Hopefully we can touch base . My group stays at Bayview. We like to fish Shermans and longreach . Looking forward to some stories and reports . Welcome abooard .
  5. Too true we do have a lot of wonderful natural resourses .I know for a fact that some of these lads already have enjoyed some of our wonderful north . Big gull in the land o lakes I believe is one spot , an area I fish myself . In fact I'll be heading up for specks on the family day weekend and will send a report when I get back .
  6. sorry Ray That's just the joy of being partially def, oh and forgetting to take off the cap lock eh
  7. HI ICEKIMO; WELCOME ABOARD . AS A FELLOW CANUCK AND ALSO RELATIVELY NEW TO THIS SITE , FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN , THESE GUYS ARE GREAT . GOOD INFO AND A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOUR . LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REPORTS
  8. It's amazing how the waterways clear once the kings have made their river runs and the hunting season starts . Alot of good fishing still out there . Too many options tho as to whether to hunt or fish . :?: Seeing as hunting season is so short and you can fish year round , I guess it makes sense . Let me know how you make out .
  9. Hi Motoman; I've seen a couple of craft still trolling the shoreline . For the most part it's browns and coho their targeting . The only reason I know this is because that's what I use to do when I had more time ( and was single ) Best that I can tell you is small spoons (cleos ) and wobbling plugs . Hope this helps .
  10. I believe so . Our ministry or MNR is Ministry of natural rosourses....They have a tendency of doing all sorts of wild and wonderful things .
  11. Hi Ray ; I does seem like a bit of a contradiction in terms ,United with seperate forums .As long as good fishing info is shared it should be all good eh???As for those yellow dots I think that's our ministry , but I can't be 100 percent sure
  12. Hey Doug , lets not forget about the hard water fishery and the spring Kings .............I'm sure from your side of the lake you'll be hitting simcoe or quinte??Your an hour and a half closer than me .ANY FISHING REPORT IS A GOOD ONE
  13. I don't know about this pickin on us northerners...........eh :?: Sorry I meant AAA
  14. First off thanks for the come back ReelDiel . muchly appreciated . I tried some spoons but not the glow . Landshark , if your going to fish the long reach area , then , if I know my bud , and I believe I do , You can lauch at firemans park out of Deseronto , head out to Shermans point . day trolling there is any kind of long body baits rafalskis, rapala's , bombers , etc. Perch patterns /shad and flo orange have all proven to be good in the spring . After I talk to my bud I'll let you know more . Picton bay is suppose to be another good spot . Hope this helps
  15. Hi Landshark ; I only do Quinte in the spring for the opener . However a very good friend of mine does it religously every fall . He's been trying forever to get me out there ,but, time isn't in my favour that time of year .I'll be talking to him soon and let you know Lures locations , and what ever else . He's a good man and a damn good fisherman . From the pictures he's shown me it'll drop your jaw. I've got to find some time
  16. I have to question water temp this time of year ...for salmon anyways .if you think about it salmon perfer about 52° degree water , yet come Oct. warm summer and I doubt the river is much colder than mid 60's . yet you have kings porposing. maybe it's just hours of daylight , I wish I knew :? on the other hand when the weather turns and there's a bite in the air , the action seems to be non stop . As for eye's , the Bay of Qunite has excellent fishin in late Nov. till first ice up . Guess I'LL just have to keep fishing till I can figure it out .
  17. We've been fishin from shore lately , but I have to beleive that the niagara bar has got to be good . With my boat up at our cabin in land of lakes I'll have to wait for my cousin to have some spare time . Any idea what your friend was using ????? :?: The early bite is definetly better , before the river starts to rise .May have to try Queenston docks this weekend for some eye's.......
  18. Hey Landshark; From the people I talked to , there wasn't much happening . If the weather turns , the Queenston drift should be hot
  19. It's Thanksgiving in Canada , so we made our first trip to the niagara gorge . The norm for this trip is several large Kings surfacing , with a fair amount of drag screaming action . This day proved to be the acception to the rule . Between swatting mosquito's and only having a few Kings surface , all we had to show for our efforts were a 8" smallmouth , and 3 line screamers that we never got to see . Roe proved futile , with spin and glo's and flo orange kwikfish doing the only damage . Water is gin clear and the Kings are definetly in . With poorized glasses you could watch them swim along the drop offs . Hopefully if anybody else has tried the niagara they've had better success. The fishermen we spoke to today had said that fishing was extremely slow . We'll try er again next weekend . Hopefully the weather will turn and the fish will turn on as well .

    Hi ALL

I've been a member for about a month now . Think it's high time I introduced myself .Unfortunetly , I , don't have a lot of time on the computer . So I better do er now . I've been chasing trout and salmon on Lake Ontario since the late 70's . I've had many a good day out there and some that I'd rather not talk about . Most of my fishing is done off Port Weller and Port Dalhousie . Funny how you can never know it all reguardless of how much time you spend on the water . What works one year doesn't seem to work the next . but then it comes full circle and some of the same old tricks work again . It's really nice to find a site that's got the same type of folks as me . Right now my craft is just an old 16' tracker with a 40 pushing her . Really got to be carefull on the big water . I'll do my best to fill you all in on what's happeningt on this side of the lake , with pictures Tight lines all
