  1. :clap:Nice fish from any boat, great fish from that kayak.Great pic.
  2. Thanks Lucky Enuff.........but I have a feeling that Gary.........unlike you and me might stretch the truth when it comes to fishing. I really would like for you or someone else with knowledge of this area to honestly share with me some of the things I asked about. Thanks
  3. I stay here at Cayuga from May till Oct. every year and know this lake very well. One of my weekend neighbors.....Gary....goes up to Sandy Pondwith his 19 ft. Lund boat with manual Cannons and limits out every time with kings. Last week was last straw when he came back with 6 fish that weighed 200 #. I have 24.5 trophy with 4 Walkers and am planning a trip early thursday to Sandy Pond. I hear horror stories about wind and waves on Lake Ontario but Gary tells me out of Sandy Pond you never out of sight of land. Maybe one of you who fish this area can help me out........like where is launch......tackle shop in area........lures to use.......depth to fish......or is it to late and salmon have already gone to the river. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. My son and I Left Treman launch at 4:30 pm last nite....cant get under TP bridge. Fished the east side just north of Cornell bouys in 160-130 FOW.Fished north to old wood dock and back south same depth. Two rods ...one at 90.....other at 80 with cheaters. Made 4 or 5 runs and landed 7 LLs between 4...5 #s. Kept two that we hurt.....one had distinct hooked jaw.....male.... other very fat. The fat one was full of eggs and all fish we caught had both side fins.......so they were not stock fish. My question is...do they spawn. Ive heard they dont but after last nite im wondering. Also it didnt seem to matter what speed north against the wind or south with the wind. Everything caught on the cheaters..........blue and white stingers.
  5. Thanks a lot Sean.......I'll get on here after my trip and let ya know how I made out.
  6. Deepsand..nonresident is $40.00. My dad lives in Texas and summers here..........been $40 for a while now....good luck.
  7. I want to try my luck on Owasco but cant find any state launch. Wonder if someone can steer me to one. I stay over on Cayuga all season so probably would be coming up hwy 38. Found map and depth chart on web......but no launch. Thanks. Ps. caught huge lakers here all May and June but right now the big ones are hiding. Dont have to be state launch.......any launch will do.
  8. My son and I fished last weekend between Deans Cove Sheldrake on the west side..............landed 17 fish,,,,couple of browns and lakers,,,,,,,,,,,mostly small salmon and rainbow. Worst year I ever had for lakers on Cayuga but landed several 10...12 lb. browns. Used to catch lakers that big but not this year. Taughannock been dead all season.....used to be my kill zone.
  9. Back in the 70s when i first started fishing lake trout the killer lure was the Miller Northern.Used to fish in Bark Lake ...north of Manawaki Que. and always loaded up on the Millers at Thousand Island bait store. Once caught a 32 pounder there. Would appreciate any info on where to find this lure. It is a flutter spoon similar to the sutton.

  11. Was in bears Friday he told me he opens 515pm weekdays but wil be helping out with weigh in at TP next weekend
  12. Ive fished here at Cayuga for several years but this is first year Ive stay here all season.Put in at Treman last sat. at 6 am (43degrees)brrrrr. went up to Meyers pt ......spotting lots of fish between 105 to 140 ft. My son was gonna come up from Oneonta early but cant make it till later. Will pick him up at TP when he calls. Back to story....Im all alone on this 24 ft. Trophy with a pretty good wind blowing.Fishing in the middle 375FOW northbound ...dropped one ball to 140 the other to 110 with dodgers and blue and silver mooselocks.Within 5 minutes had a monster strike and landed a 10 pounder. In 2 hours I caught 7 fish between 8and 12 lbs. All fish had eels sucked on. Lost one huge fish.........had him at the deck 4 times and could not get him in the net........he would go strait down stripping line.........ended up losing him. All these fish were marked like and slimy like a laker but deep bodied like a brown with wide full black tails and long side fins. Hooked one bad and had to keep him 11 lbs. gave him to neighbor Indian Red to smoke. He said it was Silver Salmon. Never heard of one.........has anyone else?????????. My son of course didnt believe my story but I had pictures of all. He came aboard at noon.........fished till 5 and nada. That will teach him to be late.
