  1. I love the bushnells, they have never let me down and are great on battery life. I usually get about 6-8 months on 8AAs. I've owned quite a few in the $150-$300 price range and the bushnells are still working hard. My original is 7 years old and still works flawless. Good luck which ever brand you go with

  2. So I uncovered the rig today. Only to find my trim cylinder had cracked over winter. From looking online it seems all mercury motors tend to have faulty seals and have a lot of problems cracking. Some say it's covered by Merc and others have not been so lucky. I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and do I call a shop or take a chance on a eBay cylinder and a rebuild kit. That being said does anyone have lead on a good boat guy on the west side of rochester. I doubt an 06 motor is still covered by a warranty but I'll still call Monday. Any help would be great, thanks

  3. I own a 92, it's a great gun. I would recommend just having your wife hold one to make sure she has a comfortable grip. It can be bulky feeling depend on her hand size. My wife has small hands and my XD40 sub comp fits her hands better.

  4. I would take exception with that article placing NY last. First, can't fight genetics. You can manage for age structure, so NY may fall short there. Second, who doesn't like hunting in snow? Third, I have hunted in states that bait......guys sitting over a bag of sugar beets. Guys setting up on other hunters bait piles...... This is not hunting. Forth, if you like taking a long still-hunt or go tracking in those other states ......forget it. NY has the big blocks of timber that allow you to "hunt" not just shoot.

I'm glad you mentioned the the bait pile. I often wonder how many guys that want Ohio regs would like or love the bait reg. I can see both sides of the argument. I hunted in Ohio and didn't realize they baited during the season. Honestly I felt like I was cheating the whole time .
  5. My spot has been over run with yotes this past month. I have 3-4 on my camera almost twice a day when I check. I also have had two nights I've seen 20 deer mostly all doe with fawns . The harsh winter didn't totally drop the numbers in 8A by the lake.

  6. If you want to stay inexpensive look for bows that are sold under the store brand but made by a top manufacturer...dicks has bows called like "rack attack" but the bow is made by Martin which is a good company. They are usually $399 ready to shoot. Cabelas does the same thing. Your accessories are generally basic but you can always upgrade next season. You'll save maybe $100-$200 and still have a reliable bow . Mission also offers nice bows that don't break the bank

  7. I hung a new stand last week due to the deer getting in the one area later and less chance to spook them. I was pumped last night to smoke a big buck in the am until I double checked the regs last depressing to say the least . Ive had 3 bucks grunting up a storm so far and nothing but does with baby's in range
