Is the college north first time launching from here Sunday and what speeds?

Aurora is north of Long Point launch. When you come out of the launch bear to starboard and get across the point before setting up lines. it comes up shallow there at the point.

I would love to do this, but holy cow I wouldn't even know where to start. I have it in my head that this could be a really fun yearly pilgrimage for my friends and I.

Not actually all that difficult to troll for them around Kingston. Pretty essential to have downspeed so you can match speed going down and upstream and deal with different tidal flows. Big Rapalas in Hot Steel and similar color patterns down roughly halfway in the water column. Go out on outgoing tide When you see a pile of boats and they are going back n forth- you found the fish. Slack tide not much is happening

  3. The traditional wisdom is that in the 'summer' browns will be where the thermocline hits the bottom. June isn't typically  a month when the thermocline has set up but the browns still relate to structure more than some of the other species. They like 55 degree water and if there is a lot of it then as others have pointed out they can be spread around pretty good. The Alewives spawning in shallow water in late spring/early summer will certainly attract browns and others species but when the bait is thick it can sometimes be tough to find a good bite .

I'd say a couple wire setups would be the first thing you want ! You can do some damage with two riggers two rigger rods and two wire diver setups....just my opinion...goodluck!

I would agree. spend the $ on a couple wire diver rigs and hold off on a planer system until next year. Bigger bang for the buck and if you want to stretch out you can always run a junk rod down the chute or off an inline or 2 if you get feeling like you want to up your game

We caught them regular without fishing for Lake trout ! " One mans trash is another mans treasure ! " They were a great " kid fish " for us with both grandsons getting entered in the SCG&F summer derby until they got knocked out ! I had takers for every fish we caught , the cook from Laos preferred them to salmon ! [ read the country of origin for commercial fish CHINA !! along with the COVID 19 ! ] Do not think that COVID 20 is not waiting for the prime time SARS 17 years ago . Don't we have another local INSECT with a 17 year life cycle LOL !

Like Mr. Trump or not he tells it like it is ! IMO !

What in God's name do Lakers have to do with Coronavirus? Can't we have a discussion with out it turning into some kind of idiotic tea party forum?

Andy, I think a good rule of thumb on lead core replacement is 3 to 5 years.  With Tuf Line Micro and Suffix 832 super lines probably go a little longer.  If I see lead breaking and sticking out sheath, I also replace.  I got a 1,000 yard spool and changed out all my lead core this winter other than a couple micro lead setups.

Yeah Frank, I'm afraid I got complacent about some of my short cores. The 2 color that broke on the king held up Ok on 2 good browns but let's face it that's just not the same thing. I have a 2 spool lead box on my shelf, have to make time to do the 2,4 and 5 that I left languishing.

  7. Had a spring King break off the lead core yesterday at the Oak on a 2 color while fishing for Browns yesterday. Hard to say exactly how far into the first color (without effort and conjecture I'm not going to expend)I'm not sure but looked faded for sure. That particular core setup is 13 years old. haven't given a whole lot of thought to changing out lead core line but perhaps I should? Thoughts/ personal experiences appreciated. Thanks

  8. Left County launch at around 9:00 am. Headed west in 10' with stix off the boards and a shallow rigger w/ a copper backed reg Stinger spoon. Water was milky and roiled up and 49 degrees. I had nothing going on for over an hour so I turned and headed east and pulled the rigger and tossed out a 2 color with a copper back scorpion spoon. As I approached the break wall I was looking out the back and saw a large spring king launch out of the water and could hear the 2 color rod burning drag. Fish took a lotta line and eventually broke the core which is aged and needs replacing in a perfect world. I went east for a while still in the shallows changing stix and spoons on a shallow rigger and tying a new leader on the core. Feeling the need to turn this day around I turned and headed west but began trolling out in 25 clear fow with just riggers and a 2 color. After passing the break wall heading west the new program began paying dividends and I boated numerous hefty browns on all 3 presentations down 7', 17', and approx. 10', all on copper back scorpions. Feeling vindicated I hauled the lil boat out and headed to L & M for a much needed trailer swap. Best speed seemed like 2.4 gps.
