  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Enticer ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 4/2/10 Time on Water: 7-1 Weather/Temp: 43 Wind Speed/Direction: 10knots ese Waves: na Surface Temp: 41-45 Location: mexico LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 7 Species Breakdown: lake trout, brown trout, salmon, steelhead Hot Lure: stickbaits, spoons Trolling Speed: 2.25 Down Speed: na Boat Depth: 2.5 Lure Depth: 7' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Had a great shake down run this past weekend, went 7 for 7 with the bright skies they seamed to be hanging out in 15 to 20 of water caught four lakers the biggest being 31" a hand full of small browns and a nice 22" steelhead. Sorry forget the camera so no pic's but we did fish the whole bay from the plant all the way up to almost sandy pond. The best water temp, color and fishing was from selkirk north above the salmon river. 2.25-2.50 seamed to be the best speed stickbaits were back 140 and spoons were back 110 of the balls. We caught fish all times of the day from morning to afternoon. We started thursday afternoon fishing at catfish and went to the plant no luck, cooler water, no color and no takers so we moved around 3pm and went north found color and temp at selkirk and caught some fish. Went back out the next morning and set up at selkirk but couldn't get a taker started in 10' and trolled from an hour or so then moved out to 15' and started hitting fish so watch your depth it can make or break your day. Water temp in front of the salmon was the best being 45 most of the fish were taken just north of there it was a real mixed bag which was fun we even caught a Atlantic around 25" haven't seen the lakers in the bay for a long time but there back this year. Remember there is a new state law requiring all boats under 21' to have life jackets on while underway till May 1st I'm sure they will be writing up a lot of guys with this one so watch out, be safe and good luck..... See you on the water! ====================
  2. I have never understood this two rod rule, we are all limited by NYS catch limits. How they came up with this is anyones guess. If you are out on the lake by yourself when you get your limit you have to stop, whether your fishing trout, bass, pike or anything else, whats the difference? I am for no rule at all, you should be able to fish as many rods as you want, it would be a great help to the smaller boats that only have 1 to 2 people in them. The big boats always have 8 to 10 rods in the water, once they catch there limit there done, no problem. Anyone who truely loves fishing as much I do would never take a chance at getting caught with an illegal limit of fish and having their permit revoked. That said there are always those people that don't follow the rules and they will break the laws no matter what they are, 2 rods or no limit on rods. I think the powers to be just over think everything to much, if we have limits to protect our natural resources we do not need to regulate what or how you go after that resource. You are allowed to have more than one bullet in your gun while hunting, but you are only allowed to shoot one deer or the amount you have tags. Same system should work for fishing, your allowed three fish whats the differnce if you go after your limit with 1 rod or six, you get your limit and your done. Just my thoughts on the subject.
  3. Concentrate on the creek mouths, I like mexico better more creeks to work from salmon river to plant. If the water is to cold and clear in mexico I would try oswego, always seems to be some color there, come out of the break walls and work the east side, be careful a lot of depht changes there in the shallow water. My best lures sre sticks black and sliver and blue and sliver and small stinger spoons off riggers. Mix color patterns til you find something that they like. Make sure you run your lures back at least 150 feet maybe more depending on how clear the water is, real important will make a big difference on how many you hook up.
