  1. We did many fish today on the less action side w/ a 20" leader. When it starts to push into august I do better w/ longer leaders and on the fast action side.

    How do you net a fish with a spin doctor and a 20' leader? I still haven't figured out how to get a fish into a net when you have more than about twelve feet from rod tip to the water surface. Maybe I am just dumb, but I don't get it.

  2. Thanks Paul, is Lake Breeze is that the Marina on the right just as you go into Point Breeze, the one with several pole buildings and tons of boats? I see Erie, PA on your ID of your post. Do you fish out of Walnut or East side?

    My charter boat is based full time out of Lake Breeze Marina in Oak Orchard. Lake Breeze is next (south of) to 4 C's on the east side of the river and yes, they have all the barns with all the boats.

    When I fish Erie (for a few tournaments and to fill the freezer with walleye fillets) I fish my dad's 28'Baha out of Presque Isle Yacht club in the bay so I guess you could say I fish the "east side".

    I think one of the fellas that has a camper at Green Harbor has a big Baha Charter boat there as well George Clody (Violent Release Charters) I just made his aquaintance at the end of the season last year. Anyway hope to see you on the water. We are going up next Thursday and making a four day weekend of it.

  3. Small jigs with power minnows in tight to shore all over the place to the east of Rochester. You have to cull through until you find schools of larger fish, but they are there in abundance.

    Makes a nice hour or two trip and you can usually come home with a nice fish fry.

    The power minnows get them and help cut down on the number of gobies. Use anything like live bait and you'll just be spending all day catching gobies.

    Good Luck. They're out there!

    Does anyone have information regarding Orleans County Lake Ontario perch fishing? Is it similar to that described in this quote? We love to troll and fish for salmonids but a change of pace is always welcome too and besides perch taste fabulous!

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

    This was our first time out on Lake "O" on our own boat. Had spent all week installing new upgrades so this was also a shakedown voyage. Boat performed well but we had two "new boaters" with us and they did not enjoy the experience as much as my wife and I did. I was curious as to whether or not I would be able to find fish let alone catch any. Well no skunk so I guess even a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while. No offense meant to any porcine readers. My wife and i are pleased with the results of this excursion and look forward to lots more fishing as the summer progresses. Planning trips in July and two weeks in August for the Orleans County Derby then again in the early part of September but we will squeeze in a long weekend here and there as well. It is such a pleasure to have our "new" camper less than 100 yards from our boat dock. Gone are the days of the ten mile haul to Walnut and the 1/2 to 1 hour waits to hurry up and put in. I love Lake "O"!!!!

  5. Heading up to our camp (trailer) at Green Harbor (just west of the oak and Johnson's Creek) from June 4-13. Any suggestions regarding tackle, lures and tactics to try to catch a few chinook and maybe some brown trout and coho?

    How do you do folks! I am new to salmon fishing just started in August of this year and I am already fanatic about it. Hopin to get some good advice about how to get set up and operating efficiently.
