There is some great info here guys.
I agree, the best way to cover your scent is to control it. Play the wind on EVERY sit and don't over use your spots. If possible do not sit the same stand 2 sits in a row. Don't let them pattern you. Another thing I do sometimes is save 1 stand for the perfect time. I did that last year and it worked out great. I took a nice buck on the first sit in my favorite spot and it was 11/15.
Less equals more. The less I hunt an area the more deer I see per sit.

I put on a 10" B-Stinger this year and I have been shooting tighter groups ever since. Both field points and broadheads are grouping better.

Way to stick with it Kevin. Meat in the freezer!

Congrats Tank! I would take that buck any day.

They will sink to bottom soon. Way before we get any ice.

I don't see any weeds on bottom once I get deeper than 13' - 14'. There could be some dead clumps of weeds somewhat suspended in the water column I guess. Everything I run into is on the surface. I use the snap clip on my lead core and it works well enough. If the weeds are bad I normally just run 2 lead core poles and do just fine anyway. Sometimes more rods are a waste of time, especially when the weeds are bad.
Luckily this problem will go away very soon!!!

Yes, the weeds are a pain. I keep trolling until I find a section with no weeds and stay in that area. I bet it's game on once those weeds are gone...

X2 on the perch colored sticks. Did great yesterday on perch colored F7s and Husky jerk 8s. Lots of perch mixed in too. 5 colors of lead core. Same depth range as well 32' - 40' and my speed was 2.0 - 2.3.

Well done.
Do you think the bite got tougher when the gobies arrived? I know it has been several years but I am just curious.
They are in Oneida now and it will be interesting to see how they affect the lake.

Got out this evening with my FIL and BIL. We fished from 90' - 160'. Went 1/2 with a upper teens king in 100' straight off the north dunes. We seriously only marked about 15 fish in the 3 hours that we fished. Pretty slow but we had a blast and didn't get skunked!

It's a tough call, you won't know until you get there I don't think. Either way I would go and troll if you have to. The barometer should be dropping nicely with a low pressure system coming in. I bet they will be biting...

Great read!

I use 10# power pro or fireline when I am trolling cranks to get them deeper. I like to use 10# mono when I am pulling worm harnesses because I like a little give on them.

The wind forecast looks like south winds and nothing major. You might luck out.
BTW - I enjoy your live reports. You take a lot of time to give details about what is working out there. Thanks!
Good Luck!

I rarely fish afternoons up there but we did an afternoon trip out of Oswego on 4/12 and it was great. Lots of browns with a steelhead and an atlantic mixed in.
Go get em!

Not sure about a place to light a fire but you can fish the Cleveland pier and Godfrey's point.

Nice buck Kevin!
My father went the same way. He shot an 8 point and had a heart attack. I found him about an hour later. That was 15 years ago.
Not a bad way to go.
