Day 1 and 2 of our Eastern Basin Lake O annual trip for Chris and I. Started out Tuesday afternoon after arriving noon time and put 5 solid hours in still sunset going 2 for 6. Next day it was a full 11 hours knowing today was a blow day and went a perfect 10 for 10 fishing thru rain and showers all afternoon! It was a marathon type of day of everything except big waves!

Our annual 7 day trip to the Oak yielded a spoon bite this time for the first time. We normally fish spoons at the Bar during the Spring LOC derby. We were shut out when we tried meat and spinnies and flies at the Oak. We tried deep we tried mid depths. We targeted the small bait balls between 40-60 ft straight out front of the Oak mostly in 400 fow during the week. Lots of giant steelhead and 2 big Domestic rainbows. Plus Kings to 21 lbs. Route 18 tackle custom spoons and the always trustworthy Moonshine Carbon 14 the first 2 hours. It was fun catching these fish on spoons! 52 fish landed on 98 bites over the 7 days. We fished 2 riggers and 4 divers. Riggers parked at 60 ft and divers in that 40-60 ft window. The Kings were in that 55F-57F window with the Rainbows feeding on those bait balls! See less-

Unicorn Monday in 20-30 mph SW winds day 3 at the Bar fishing the LOC! We had a plan before we left Vermont to bring the Offshore Inline boards and the light gear we use on Landlocks back on Champlain. After 1.5 days the winds from the SW blew hard and our plan was to start at the mouth and troll east 4-6 miles in 25-35 fow to Wilson with the waves. We hit 4 species in the 4 hours till 11:00 am..LT/Atlantic/Brown/King! This Unicorn was very special taping out at 30.5" and a little over 10 lbs. We released it after reviving in the live well for 20 minutes.
