took son #3 out today for his birthday. he was an hour late so i fished near the launch. i got three before he got there. by the time he showed up it was thundering. we got three more and then the lightning started to show. after all my safety preaching i kinda had to put my money where my mouth was and leave. i got mine on the rabid squirrl spinnerbait and his was on a nickle redeye. i got bit pretty good today showing off my hand landing "skills"

they were hungry this morning. pike were everywhere,i ended up with 5 in the boat and saw a lot more. nothin over 32". i caught this tiger around 7am(another fine photo) over the next hour i had three more tigers follow in the same small area. one took a half a whack at it but no hooks in it. the photo through the windshield shows where i was and the bait. it's right off stella marris in 8 to 12 fow. all the tigers were between the dock at at stella marris and a blue and white crownline moored offshore to the south.

  3. dunno where cal's is but eel bay is on your list. can't miss there. it's loaded with pike. look for the patches of taller weeds amoung the million acres of short stuff.on clear days it's first and last light. if it's overcast you can catch em all day. for bigger pike go out of the bay and work the north shore of wellesy island to the marina at the state park. work over all the small points and coves.

  4. sdOb9.jpg most of the tigers there seem to be 24" and thin. i have had a couple follow that might have gone 40",though i admit they all look bigger in the water. i think the tiger program in new york is pretty much a bust. i got a decent one in cannadarago once.don't even dream about going there in the summer;it's like party heat there. i do lake durant every year 'cause the wife loves the mountains. i have fished every inch of that lake and never seen anything except black flies and bass. anybody see river monsters last night? guy's in alaska looking for a 12foot pike that attacked a boat prop. he gets a guide and goes pike fishing. he hooks up with about a 30"er that we would grab behind the head to land. but noooooooooo...he hops in the water and drags it to shore amazon catfish style. he tapes it and claims it's 40". it's hillarious.
  5. fished conesus wed. water temp was down,49-52. fishing was slow. got a smaller pike and a big bass. lots of lazy follows. around mid day i could see pike hugging the bottom in 5/6fow, but they wouldn't move. saw one caught on a bobber/minnow rig close to shore. i had a bigger than most tiger follow in 6fow 'bout a hundred yards north of the launch.

  6. i see your home port is cayuga state park. from the launch head across the lake and a bit north until you get into the weeds. throw any of the baits mentioned and you'll be good. you can get 50 a day if you want to. you'll get a couple small pike in the mix and maybe a stout largemouth. if you want bigger ones go to seneca and do the same thing. unlike pike and muskies pickerel are allways eating and they're stupid. if only they grew to 20 lbs!
