  1. I have a AP 12H and it's giving me fits.

It keeps dropping out of auto into standby, the voltage and connections are fine and it's hard wired off the battery

Simrad replaced the computor and now the pump won't make a turn to the port side.

They recommended sending the pump & computor back to be tested. According to Simrad there could be air in the pump which I doubt because it steers perfect.

    How does yours work?

I'm ready to trash mine and start over with a Raymarine!

  2. Hooked up with Chowder, fished from the Yacht Club north to T-Falls. Nothing spectacular, but a nice day to fish! Boated 4 LT like the one held by Chowder in the 6 to 9 lb class. Dropped two & some small LLs. Had to work at the ones we catch, they came off wire & copper deeeeeeeep! Searched high & low for Lyteline!

I mounted a swivel base for the two rear Big Jons and I add a 24" Traxs Tech rail for the front down riggers and rod holders. In the winter I have extra spools with planner board line that I use on the front big jons. I slide them forward and tip them up and use them as plannerboard masts. I use Otter Boards so the pull isn't severe. On the left of the dash the !st black box is the simrad Auto pilot and next to that is the Troll master. The only thing that I would do different is I would use 36" rails. I balso added carpet to the Gunnels!

  4. I'm having the same problem with Simrad that Chowder had. They simply refuse to honor their warranty without upfront $$$$$$. In other words send us the unit and the cost for repair then we'll tell you if it's under warranty. They had the nerve to suggest that my AP12H was damaged by high voltage due to faulty installation. I work for a utility so electricity is my business. I asked them to explain to me how a 12 volt system can produce high voltage.....Their response was that maybe it was hit by lightning!!! INCREDIBLE......... Their customer service stinks.........I suggest if you purchase their product document everything and keep all invoices. If this doesn't work out for me I'm off to the Attorney General.

  5. It's complicated! What unit GPS & AP do you have. You have to identify the data out on the GPS and data receive on the auto pilot tie them together and the common on each. What makes it complicated is that the language isdifferent on each. I have a Lowrance GPS & a Simrad AP. Mine works fine until the computor on the AP failed.

    BTW I'm the old huntfrisco

  6. I've had two trailers with carpeted bunks, I removed the carpet and installed teflon on both because it's has less friction than carpet. I launch in the winter and the boat was easier to skid onto the trailer without carpeting!

  7. Just a note to add about the Simrad. I have the AP12H the unit works fine, but keep in mind it's a generic unit. What I mean is that you'll need to purchase an additional fitting kit to install the the pump inline and an extra mount for the sensing unit on the motor.

Don't expect much help from Simrad their customer service is ridiculous!!!!!!!!! :@:@

The information that I needed to solve the installation didn't come from Simrad it came off web sites like this. Because of the poor service at Simrad I would look seriously at the new Raymarine unit!

  8. Stinger & I launched at Long Point. Not a very productive day, but we did boat two bows in the 23" class & a few smaller ones. We stayed away from dodgers/flies etc so we only took one Laker.

Nothing consistent as for methods or colors so there isn't much to report there!

Nice day to be on the lake.

Did hook up with Musky Bob at LP good talking to you and Lil Jake!

Stinger thought if we had some leadcore we could have boated more fish. What do you think Zeke?

  9. That law seems a bit ridiculous, the Warden seems to hang around Long Point quite often. I've seen boats there that look like a porcupine with the number of rods hanging off the side.

Another area that they prowl on is Deans' Cove I know guys that have been nailed for doing a dastardly thing like cleaning fish in the lake. Must be an area where fishing criminals hang out.

    Your turn Z

  10. Chowder, This has been an unusual winter. we haven't been able to find fish that are bunched up. The best days that we had were over deeper water throwing everything at them that we had! This means boards, downriggers, and wire at the same time. We caught fish at all levels without any one method doing better than the other. Personally, I would suggest boards early in the shallows then hitting the deeper water if you're not successful in the shallows. The last trip we boated 3 large LLs one on top, one at 25' off the riggers, and the other on a fly and dodger at 60' so go figure!
