  1. I went to fat nancys..(my favorite store..lol) and I got two three rod holder setups...they have four quicck mount screws.you mount the bases where you want them..the rod holders are all adjustable..so you can cover all angles...they are made of anodized aluminum..about $150 a piece..if I remember right...
  2. I havea 22 ft penn yan it has a chrysler below deck 318 v8..my question is does anyone have a similar setup and if so...can they troll at about 1.6 to 2.00mph without a kicker motor ?
  3. I love the 310 and 320 gti's penn....can't go wrong they feel like they are indestructable..
  4. I use a pair of life size canadian geese decoys for floating markers when fishing rig rods on my planer boards..the look a lot better than towing a clorox bottle and the jet skiers seem to stay real clear of the geese...they float great and look like the real thing following you down the lake.
  5. thanks....nice quiet day...can't wait to get out with the boat....for the maiden voyage...feel like I will have to relearn everything..lol
  6. does anyone have luck using the anti-flea line they sell or is it a gimmick...
  7. look like O&M to me also....the grey/white alewive work well for us on seneca
  8. I had two 12' downrigger weights that were fish shaped with yellow vinyl around the bodies..the tail was bendable..someone told me a guy used to make them near keuka lake but he had passed away...does anyone know where to get these style weights any more..maybe you have seen them used someplace..? I lost one in seneca in front of the salt works...
  9. forgot to add from owego ny...fish seneca, owasco, cayuga and keuka...all are about an hour away...all easy haul except comming home from seneca...the hill out of montour we crawl..
  10. whendo the browns usuallygo out of the shallow water..? is there a water temp they move on usually or is it after they spawn...I have caught them out of sodusalong the shore in 30' of water but it has been a while since I have gone out on the big pond...
  11. been on about two weeks love it!! the best fishing site I have seen...so much info..and everyone seems eager to help people to get the sport out there better for everyone...my boat is a 1986 penn yan, tunnel drive,318 chrysler, with two cannon digitrolls, two penn fathomasters, one cannon sportroll,I usually run two downriggers and stack rods on each and use one of the penns foran underwater camera system..that is pretty cool you can watch the fish approach the spoons..., I have two outriggers as an option or I have a stand up rocket launcher that I built out of aluminum pipe and mounted tow reels off two big jon downriggers for planer boards..also with lights that can illuminate the deck for those early morning starts...I have 8 eagle claw 10' rods, all with penn 310 GTI reels, four penn deep sea rods, two 5'6 and two 7' for finger lakes trolling rigs..each with 5 spoons ..the two long rods go out on planers and the shorties go off the side..instead of jugs for locators I usefull size canadian goose decoys..the jet skis seem to stay away from them better..plus they look really cool following the boat..lol the four rigs are all penn number 6 deep sea reels..40lb test spider wire to 80 lb braid with bead chains every 10 feet...I have eeneagle mach one that I got on ebay for $16..a guy in the state of main had a tackle shop owned by his dad and when he died the son was clearing out I won it and when it came it was brrand new and still had the plastic wrap on the box..my two digi finders are a ray jefferson and a bottom line tournament series...I like to run a chart then set up the two one to track the bottom and the other to track the ball..so basically that is my rig...it is called Justice...I bought some kick ass rod holders at fat nancys aluminum adjustable...removeable...I also run my radio on 68 and also monitor a regular cb...and I have a garmin GPS plotter.... I have not gotten in the water yet with it..I got it in september of 2007..then most of 2008 and this spring I had several surgeries and was unable to get it out..but this year for sure..the tarp is comming off this week to start the cleanup and getting it ready.... I am anxious to hear from other penn yan owners as this boat was an ebay purchase so I have no manual as to how the boat is set up underneath...I found it on ebay and it was a trade in to a dealr above albany..he took swaps I had a craftsman lawn tractor with a 42" mower deck...so we swapped for boat and trailer..the rest of the rig was on my 1967 18" starcraft..I just moved it over..now it looks as good as any of the big charter boats...23'..x8' all in all I am very psyched ...can you tell? thanx for looking guys...and thanx for the site and the welcomes I recieved...looking forward to meeting some of you guys out on the water...or chatting on the radio....good luck...MIKE
  12. I got a super deal on a penn yan 22-23ft cuddy last year..on ebay it was at a cottage on the st lawrence..it has a 318 chrysler v-8 under the main deck, with a tunnel drive..I am interested in trolling with my kicker motor..I am wondering if anyone else has one of these and how effective will it work if I fix the kicker and steer with the rudder, due to the tunnel drive shaft prop there is no way to attach a steering rod to the kicker..if you do so it will only turn in one direction..
  13. I retired in september 20 yrs as a correctios officer..last year I got a 1976 22' penn yan boat witha 318 chrysler tunnel drive.I worked on refurbing it all last season after some surgery, now this year I would like to get back on the big pond...the boat is called Justice, white with blue trim, I have been trolling for about 20 years..it has been my favorite type of fishing. We usually fish the finger lakes also, seneca being my favorite...My name is mike..my first mate is bruce...we used to be the Rushintrawler....I welcome anyone looking to chat about fishing, I usually fish out of sodus point when I fish lake ontario...we always trailer our boat...after doing the hull last year..( I now officially hate zebra mussels)...so love the site...drop me a line...see ya...tight lines...MIKE
