  1. Ahh the yearly Hemlock head scratcher post. Can be a tough cookie to figure. On and off is Hemlock n Canadice. There are plenty of Hemlock regulars reading this say in oh yeah thats Hemlock.

There is no standard there they will tell you. I have heard its much better at night for the biggest fish just be careful . Something I never hear about the 2 lakes. 90 feet deep is it. Its not a deep lake like Cayuga or Seneca... easier to spook fish...narrow to. So you get alot of boats out there dragging junk around well fish scatter.

I always had best luck very early and at midday in the 60-70 foot range for trout.

If I get a motor that runs on my 14 footer I would love to post on Hemlock findings..

yes Rainbow kid can't beat the scenery!!! And no water skiers or bass rigs buzzing you

  2. Not to high jack thread but, Do any of you use the ipilot with a kicker pushing? I want this setup and am curious how well it works. How is it on battery etc. I'm looking 24v terrova on a 17' Lund fisherman with a 8-9.9 kicker motor (haven't bought yet)

Only had the main motor running when we were fighting fish just idle. I had the hand controller around my neck on a lanyard . Never needed help pulling around in any trolling speed with the 80lbs terrova. Set a course and speed and fish. Perfect for solo rides too!!

  3. I have the exact same boat I went with the Terrova 24 volt 80# thrust, 60 " shaft, my Lowrance Elite 5 FF is hooked up to it, can't say enough good things about it, love the anchor lock, love the auto pilot, I easily use it as a trolling motor 6-8 hours at a time, depending on the wave action, I replaced my fishing partner with this thing, point it in 1 direction hit auto, doesn't care about wind, weight moving around in the boat, current, waves.......like I said, can't say enough good things

Had one too on my 16 smoker craft for 3 years.

Unbelievable!! All said true . I even trolled Lake O with it and it served as a very dependable back up to an old outboard. Just get one.

  4. just grilled out..charcoal..man I had to have a good last supper..ribeyes

Right on!...my chargriller is loaded up with beer can chicken, wings and a center cut pork prime rib. Memphis dust rubbed in. Now if It's under 250 degrees tomorrow, I will set fire to the side box loaded with oak charcoal and hickory sticks. 8) sunglasses required...more beer necessary.

Oh yeah :D forgot the beer was cold too until the fireballs hit me...whoa

  5. We have all been there ! Get back out there and get in the tree!

:yes: you got it. Get back in a tree. sounds like a flesh wound, lots of bright blood for a while then nuttin. Sounds like you exhausted all options short of dogs but its raining here tonight and hard.

Where did the arrow hit? leg forward? skim the bottom?

bright red blood looks really good on the ground but could mean a marginal hit.

this does suck though..better luck to you the rest of the season

  6. Hey trouthunter9 I have a camp in Almond NY could you send his brother my way? Good luck be safe

sure.. good luck to you too. We are not getting anything on our trail cams..a few really small bucks but nothing like last year or the year before..although I have never pursued mature bucks :P .

I am after some jerky and stew meat first, take what the land has to offer right..no worries

USE YOUR CLIMBING HARNESS ALL!! BE SAFE

climb high and hold low 8)

  7. My cousin Kevin and I are planning a 4 day weekend trip to the St.Lawrence next spring. I am thinking early June best , 1st weekend?

Is there a better time frame for this? Should I push this into late June?

Staying close to Clayton or between there and Alex Bay. I am not a regular up there.. too far so trying to make the best of a few days.

We are hoping to find pike and walleye, Kevin has never been up there. I had a 3 day trip 2 years ago mid June, no problem finding small mouth, all were released of course.. walleye and pike did not come on that trip we tried all depths trolling, drifting...any advice??

    Thanks Chris

  8. freshwatermodels, I started out my trolling obsession on Hemlock with a 6hp johnson and a 12 foot sea nymph. I loaded the boat inside my ford explorer and set the 6hp on the passanger seat :D..before purchasing a trailer.. oh the humble beginnings but to date the most exciting fishing days of my life outta that 12 footer..If I can help out shoot me a pm.

I may have ideas for you as far as mounting rod holders and how and where/what depth to pull the wire dipsey rigs in there.

No doubt a great choice for a starter rig, once you nail down the speed and depth of line out in there with the wire dip ..the lakers will come.

    sent you a pm chris

  9. I've gotten estimates...another word for pre-hosing. Done my own repairs after the shock, and been satisfied with my own precious time investment...(was gonna drink beer anyway)...might as well occupy my free hand and another brain cell

great advice!! Hey take an oppurtunity to learn something about your gear  do many if not all repairs myself also!! the internet is an awesome source of info ;)

  10. The youth are the future of hunting and fishing. If we do not get youth involved, where will we stand in 20 years? Yes some will abuse it but every kid that gets the expierence will be hooked for a lifetime. I also feel it is early enough in the bow season that the deer will settle back down and be back to normal. If you do not like it, buy your own property and do not allow anyone to gun hunt until gun season.

    Perfect!! Thanks Brian :yes::yes:;)
