  1. Spent 4 nights in Tampa for a buddies bachlor party. Saw the yanks on weds and thurs. The yanks won the first 4 to 0 and my dad, uncle and a few of their friends joined us for the game. Thursday the yanks lost, but we saw a great pitching matchup with CC going against James Shields.

Thursday morning we went tarpon fishing. It's past primetime, but there were still some small pods of big fish around. I got a 120 lber and we also caught about 8 small sharks. Here's the tarpon.

Friday we went 30 miles out in the gulf for snapper, grouper and amberjacks. I got 4 amberjacks, 3 grouper and a red snapper. One of my buddies caught a triggerfish that was absolutely delish. The fishing wasn't on fire, but we all caught enough to keep us busy.

Ended the trip at the hardrock casino, then on to the nudie bar : ) I left with glitter all over my face. Did I mention I live a charmed life.

  2. If you have a long stringer, you can poke the stringer through the thin piece of skin between the fishes lip and gill plate, not harming the gill. Attach a little weight to the stringer and the fish will stay down a little in the cooler water. I keep fish alive on a stringer all the time, because I never keep more than one fish. If I catch a better keeper, I release the one on the stringer. Works for me, hope it works for you.

  3. With your boat artpark and the area around the fort are probably the best drifts. Devils hole is great too, but I don't know if I'd try that with a small boat. Stella can be decent, but artpark is where it's at. Try different depths,,, move out to 20 -25 ft some and see if you can get some action out there. Water color is everything up there, it can be really tough when the water goes brownish. Anything greenish works and on the other side it can start getting too clear soon as well, then you switch to lighter line and longer leaders. Sounds like your doing the right things. We normally fish the bags and beads in the morning and switch to kwikfish when the water comes up and is moving faster. Hope this helps some and good luck.

  4. I'm playing with a new program and I thought I'd share. My son Jaden and I spent 2 days at the Oak this fall and thanks to the members of LOU it was a great trip. Everyone was very helpful and couldn't have been friendlier. Thanks to everyone for their advice, I think you all created another Salmonaholic.

    enjoy

  5. Pepacton is a special place. I've been taking my young son up there for several years and he just loves it. We fish the res some, take a canoe trip down the East Branch and just enjoy the scenery. Of course we catch a few in between. There are lots of eagles up there now too. Definately a great place to forget about your troubles and recharge the batteries.

  6. My lucky hat is the polar opposite of yours DF,,, it's a NY Giants Superbowl Champions hat. If I really need some luck I wear my 19 -1 hoodie or my boston sucks shirt : )

although anything Cuse has always brought me luck

  7. anytime you wanna get rowed around pepacton OntheLam,,, let me know. I've got 3 boats up there. I mainly fish huntley hollow, the dam and schaffertown bridge. I've had my boats at the wires, miller hollow and the quarrey too. I don't think I've ever fished hammer hollow, where is it?

  8. I'm voting for the PULL MY FINGER PARTY.

Just when you thought NY politics couldn't get any worse. I figure, as long as Cuomo doesn't start practicing witchcraft, lying about serving in Nam, dressing up like a Nazi or wearing a speedo and grinding at a gay pride parade he's a shoe in. Too bad, cause he's a mut too and one of the main villians in the mortgage meltdown.

  9. thanks for the report Tony,,, 2 more weeks for me. I've had all my success for salmon on the niagara up in devils hole drifting large skein in purple or dark red in the morning and kwikfish after they raise the water in the afternoon. Make sure your touching bottom and that should improve your success. Even 2 or 3 ft off the bottom will reduce your success.

Are you seeing any trout caught yet???
