  1. I like what we've got too. The lakers are certainly down, but the browns and steelies are gettting better. The lake will always go through cycles.

and there is no way they will do anything to damage the salmon fishery. It makes too much money and in this economy that means something

  2. Took a mini midweek vacation to otisco this week. We were blessed with fantastic weather and good fishing. I spent a lot of time panfishing with the kids, but I did manage to sneak away early in the morning 2 of the days to see if I could get into some decent fish. Did most of my damage between 25 and 50 fow. I got bites on the pumkinseed tube, a black booyah jig w/ a craw trailer and a rattletrap. I was fishing in a canoe, so I would pull around the rattletrap going from point a to point b, then fish the jig or tube drifting back. I probably ended up getting 10 smallies between a pound and a half up to about four and a half. I didn't bring my scale, but a couple of the bigger fish were definately pushing 4. I also caught a 15 in brown trout on a smithwick rogue.

heres a pic of the best smallie

  3. I practice responsible harvest. I only take what I'm going to eat that day or the next. I take what I would call good eating size fish and release the bigger ones. My family and I all enjoy eating fish, but we aren't trying to fill the freezer.
