  1. With a small boat you need to watch your weather very carefully and see what the weather is like not just the day your going out but for the next day just so that nothing blows in when your out there. DON'T EVER believe what the forecast is also you have to be there to see exactly what the conditions are like I have many times went to the launch just to see how badly the lake was still rolling from the previous day. I would also fish during the morning hours all lakes are 100% calmer in the mornings till about noon before the sun and boat traffic gets the water moving again. The boat should be O.K. as long as your not out there in the rough stuff and just remember no fish is worth loosing your life over.
  2. guys thank you very much for you information greatly appreciated. Sharp hooks and good hook sets
  3. I need some information on what size reel I need to run 300 feet of copper, I am looking at Okuma and Daiwa but any input or preference would be appreciated don't have the money to spend on Shimano
  4. Yup I got a 45 Catalina with 300yds of 30lb 10 colours of 27 lead core and 25yds of 30lb floro as leader and just looking at now that's about all it can handle.

  6. Thank you very much for you insight I read a thread in the trolling for salmon and trout and there was a thread there where guys booms folding and falling off, it quickly maid me worry on what size I should go.
  7. I am going to purchase two 1116 pro packs next Friday I plan on buying some shark weights for these riggers from past experience what is the heaviest weight I should purchase for these unites to avoid some of the horror stories I read about going to heavy and snapping the booms in halve.
  8. I have ran ten colours of led last year with no result, so I am thinking of going to copper but would like some questions answered. First one is what type of rod should I use with my lead I used a 8.6' MH Shimano Talora 15-30lb. with the copper would I need a rod with different guides. The other question I have is how many feet of copper should I put on the reel I heard that 400 feet is a good average love to now your opinion on this Thanks
  9. This is all for shore fishing which I have done for 20+years and it works well: A= If casting with lure I like to use a 9'-10' medium heavy rod with a reel in the 3000 series something that holds 180+ yards of 8lb line. I like using there for 8lb line if casting or sitting with a row bag and egg sinker. The one thing is you what a good quality reel with a good drag system as they will run at least be looking to spend $80.00 on a reel. -lures very from colour of water and what the fish are doing if they are rolling allot or are they staying deep. -I use rattle raps, floating rapalas, cleo's, crocodiles, and cast masters. Like I said the Cleo's are glow in the dark for night fishing and the rattle raps as well in dark silty water, Crocodiles and Cast masters I like when the fish are deep and far as you can sling them further than anything. The floating rapala are great when the fish are in and rolling on bait. B= I fished Credit, Rouge, Wilmot, Port Hop, Oshawa, But the best spot I think is Port Hop it's a very nice town good crowds and great fishing folks. The best thing is you have a large area where you can fish if it's the pears, rocks, center warehouse, river, yacht tie down area, warm water discharge, you pick. I always to great of the pears and once the fish are in left rock wall halve way out. C= sure D= Any time is great usually I will hit during a good rain or after a good rain when the river has risen, I like going at 3:00pm and staying till midnight I find the best time. They move in at night with the cover of darkness a good south wind will push them in as well. I have fished like this all the time and have been very successful with my results I hop they bring you luck
  10. I like to run at least 24" behind a flasher to 36" any longer if your running with a diver the set up becomes to long and difficult to swing the fish into the net.
  11. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Paul ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Sat Sept. 12 Time on Water: 6:15 am Weather/Temp: 16 Wind Speed/Direction: NE 10km? Waves: 7 Surface Temp: 69 Location: Port Credit LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): ? =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated:3 Species Breakdown: 2 Rainbow, 1 King Hot Lure: Fly with spin doctor, and Nasty boy spoon Trolling Speed: 2.6-3.0 mph Down Speed: ? Boat Depth: 230-270 feet Lure Depth: 45-100feet ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== The weather man said it was a calm day but when we went out and got to about the 230 foot range the waves where nasty. We where trying to get out to the 400+ foot range but I stopped and told my old man that this is not good and who knows what could happen later. So we decided to stop at the 230 range and fished there, we where tossed around like bingo balls my 17 foot held in strong but it was not to enjoyable. We had a very hard time steering and landing fish I just don't know how the two boats I saw out there did it fishing alone.
  12. Thanks for the replay Not a bad idea lol
  13. I believe the salmon moved out to the states now and all that's left is near shore in 100 feet or closer, you will get some of the smaller fish in the blue zones but no larger fish. I now that temperature plays a large roll and I know that salmon prefer the colder temps around mid 40.
