  1. Check back on the original " Gas Question" post.I asked the same question. There was some disscussion about air flow in a sealed tank. that is what prompted me to do the test. What got me is I put exactly 2 gallons in but there was about 1 7/8 or less that came out.

  2. July 31 I took an extra 6 gal plasti merc gas can & put exatly 2 gal of reg mobil 10 % ethanol gas in it. Crankded down the vent & cap & set it outback next to my shed. Full sun & cool nights till today. Drained it into a 1 gal glass pickle jar. Drained 1st gal & let set for 20 min. Clear as a bell & not 1 drop of water. Took about a tablespoon of water & dropped it in & it fell to bottom & sat there like bb's. Shook tank good & drained second gal & not a drop of water again. 2nd batch only came to about 7/8 way to top of jar. Either pump cheated me or evap. I spilled a little but not that much. Take from this what you want. Thought I would see more water.

  3. Hey Loadman, After fishing the tribs pretty hard since 1974 , I have learned that a fly presentation on a lot of days is the most efficient & best presentation. But you are correct about a float presentation when things cool off & the fish slow down.Saved some eggs yesterday to get the long rod back out this winter. Sick of watching the pin guys catching all the fish out of the pools in the winter ,so I'm giving in. Saw a few browns yest. Welcome aboard. Check out trib site below.

  4. Vince I saw what you are refering to as being sheep put in a pen a long time ago. This is a money and power grab if I ever saw one. The American citizens of this country better yank their heads out of their __ soon before it's to late& our country is sold off. . The last thing this is about is electricity. Hope Palidino can pull it out. The scoundrels in this gov would sell their kids to get what they want. Great report.

  5. Any of the tribs will be good from now untill good flow ends. That means all winter long also. Now the kings till mid Nov followed by browns & Steelheads( which are more fun anyway) Pierheads are good but I like the tribs. I prefer fly fishing . Egg patterns are my Fav . A 7-9wt rod 9-10 ft is good. Spin rods are also good 9-11' drift rods w/4-8 lb for trout . Egg sacks under a float till you get it down then flies or small jigs can be deadly. If you get hardcore a centerpin may be your preference. I like Oak Orchard but Irondiquoit out your way is very good also. The secret is not so much what you use but a good drift. Dont get discouraged & Good luck. Check out the trib section below. Thanks!! Glad to have you on board.

  6. Hah, Hah !! I really needed someone to make me laugh after the last few weeks!! Yea , just some good natured fun from the same good old boys. Sorry, my mistake. I know you guys would never say anything bad about the stream guys. I buy the cheapest equipment I can get away with. Mostly off the bargain & sale racks., but I get by. I'll try to be more open minded& less defensive in the future.

  7. Man . there are a lot of pickles in a 1 galon jar. 4.36 for a jar & they taste like it. Had a pickle eating contest with the boys & nobody won . Thost kerosene cucumbers will be gone in a few more days & the test will be done & posted on here.

  8. Well it seems as though the mob mentality has taken the LOU site by storm once again. Capt Scott, It's good to have you on board. I leave for a while and this is what I come back to? Yes , it is nice to know some things never change.Your fishing prowness could never rival any of the experts on this board,so don't even try. Stream guys are just a menace to the LO scene & us fly guys are detramental to the health & well being of their fish & when some can't hook up will blame us for their woes. All I can say is be prepaired for some healthy bantor. Looking forward to more of your posts.

Orvis stuff is not good?Shame on you.

  9. With the drop in temp as the front goes thru & the cloudy days & preddicted rain, I would try the pierheads first light weather permiting. there are allways a few milling around this time of year ,no matter what the temps. The stirred up water provides cover & confidence for them. Otherwise it's pike & bass or an early day at mahogany ridge. Temp means a lot less than it did a few weeks ago. In fact I feel warmer close is better .

  10. Wake up and smell the roses!!!! Money it what makes the world go round& what made this country the best & most generose place on the planet there ever was in the history of mankind. I don't know who owns Palladino But I do know who owns our current Gov, Labor unions& the welfare vote. And our beloved Pres. , that would be a laundy list headed up by George Soros( one of the richest guy on the planet ). It's time we choose the profitable direction, before it's to late& we all loose everything. Unfortunatly Downstate rules us so say Hello to Andy& BoB!! at least Duffy is from up this way & who knows what skeletons are in Cuomo's closet so hey you never know.

  11. At about 3000 hrs I needed my 305 chevy rebuilt at a cost of $2800 about 9 years ago. The next year I needed my Corba outdrive rebuilt at a cost of $ 3300 .I'd be leary . BOAT= Bust Out Another Thousand. That whole " Dry Hole in the water thing" always applies.

  12. Fresh back from my happy place in the mountains with the wife. . Fishing was pretty good as I landed about 15 bass & a dozen northerns in four days out.Biggest bass around19" & pike about 9 lbs. My buddy the Bald Eagle was waiting for me in his favorite tree. Saw Mom & her fawn wading the edge of the lake one misty morn. Nothing like hearing the waves gently slap the shore & the call of the loons from my tent in the nights silence . Beautifull weather, Beautiful area. . Boys weekend up in 2 weeks. Can't wait.

  13. I have 4 on mine And love them. They are my prefered way to fish deep. You can manuver around quickly to stay on the fish & waypoints when the bite is on . There are many days I use my 2 outdowns stacked & not the corners because I think the weights & wires scare the fish some days. Springtime I will put sticks back 50-200 ft down 2'-5' to keep lines out of surface tention on choppy days in shallow for browns & will pick up shallow water kings also. Long booms on the outdowns are a must if you run 4 IMO.

  14. Before I started using offshore clip style the same thing happened to me. It's was because the weight was spinning and the release was not spinning freely. I had the kind with just the hole & I put a crimp above it on the cable . Solved problem by puting a brass bead aprox 1/4inch diameter above release & before crimp. Kind of like a mepps spinner. My buddy Shongo use to put a crimp 10' above on the cable & had 2 blacks on the same cable., one fixed, the other free sliding as a stacker. The crimp stopped it w/ the rod pressure up . On release it dropped down. If you didn't want it it was there anyway w/ no interference.

  15. I never was a big fan of dipsys , because I ran them w/ mono. This year I tried power pro & did well & was impressed. It dosnt stretch & cuts the water better than mono w/ much better control & hooksets. I can only imagin that wire would be better. We will see next year. Think about how much line stetch there has to be with 250 ' of mono out under all the strain .

  16. I love to use J plugs from here on out. They catch a lot of fish for me . The #4 glo green & silver bullets W/ or w/o red head are my favs. Run them back 35- 200' with at least one just off bottom & S turn a lot. Change the hooks on the harness w/ 1/0 lazer sharps of some sort & tie direct. If it breaks off you it will float up & you can get it back. On a rigger put a dodger or flasher 10-25 ' back and 20 feet above run the J back 125' . do on both sides & S turn. One of my go to patterns on a slight chop slow hit day just outside the pack. Good luck.
