That is awesome. People do not realize that most turtle nests have a zero percent survival rate so every little bit helps. In the future please send me a PM if you would like help on the release I will help. I usually keep them until they reach about 3-4 inches and then release in Mendon ponds park as it is an excellent turtle habitat.

Went for a short evening charter with Randy Calus on Sure Strike Charters. Randy got us some nice fish and was great company. His boat The Sure Strike III was really nice and the underwater lights on the boat made reeling in the last salmon of the evening(which was also after dark) a real treat. I would certainly recommend Randy Calus to anyone looking to enjoy a charter on the big O. Attached is a pic of the last fish of the evening.

You guys must have been the ones we passed sat am (and the only one in sight for that matter) We were the ones that held up the one we got for the day just under 7lbs. Good to hear you guys got a few. How was the ice on your way out of ibay? -
Got out on the lake at 6:00. Had to maneuver around some large ice sheets to get out of the bay. Also saw some floating logs that were hard to spot and very large. Tried to find a warm path of water to hit but the temp was even everywhere we went. Got one 7lb brown out in front of shipbuilders on an orange crush 7' deep over 15' water and had one on just past that spot on a green northern king spoon (dont remember the name of the color) but lost it at the back of the boat. It looked to be about the same size as the first. Was not too rough and actually not really that cold. I brought all my hunting clothes but only ended up needing long johns and my carhart. Does anyone know if the browns start coming in shallow in greater numbers after we get a couple warms days? and what about the cohos?

We are going to launch out of ibay tommorrow morning and try to get some browns. Has anyone had luck this early in the year? and does any one have any tips to help me out? I am hoping for the best since launching is going to be a pain with out the docks being in yet.===============

I fish out of my 16' starcraft on ontario all the time. I was out this past sunday in 3-4' waves. Just keep in mind that big waves make trolling a pain in smaller boats. I like to use the website www.wunderground.com to get wave reports on Ontario. It won't let you see the future but it'll give you somewhat of an idea as to how things are looking out there.

I am new to the game and had a question. I have see posts about the lake turning over or flipping. What does this mean and how does it affect fishing?

I will be heading out of I-bay at about 5:30 on 9/12 and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what depth of water I should be heading to at this time of year. I'd like to catch some immature kings/steelies or even some lakers. I'm sure there are plenty of variables but any suggestions would be great. Thanks Matt

What does "down speed" mean? I have been using my gps to track my speed.

What are ideal trolling speeds for salmon, steelhead and lakers?

I am new to fishing Lake Ontario (and with downriggers and trolling for that matter). I have some northern king cowbell setups... watermelon blades with a couple sin-n-glos and a small fly at the end of the leader. We trolled the first time just outside of Irondiquoit bay in about 120-125' deep water. Let the ball hit bottom and brought it up a few feet. Trolled .75-1.5mph for about 1hr 45 min and got 2 lakers and went back on 4 more occasions for almost 6 hours each with the same setup and I can't seem to catch any more. Is the area good for lakers should I be doing something different? If anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Matt
