SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Went out this morning with a friend and his girl friend. Set up a 6 rod spread consisting of 3 riggers two dipsy and a core looking for kings. Lost a brown at the back of the boat right when we set up in 175. Headed north and the one rigger parked at 40 down took 1 small king and 1 steelhead and lost another steelhead. Took another small king on a ten color core. No action on the dipsy. Beautiful day to be out.

Hi Tom, was wondering if i could get directions on where the captains marina is at. My boat is at mikes marina and i have talked with Beth about keeping things local. She had mentioned it last year at the derby and when i talked to her it seemed like she was leaning towards a change. Also she was in need of all the help she can get in setting up for the derby which i gladly offered to help so if anyone is interested in lending a hand give a call and let them know you can help out.

Hey Tom, are things all set at fat nancys to enter the challenge? I wanted to enter this coming weekend. I'm not familiar with the captains marina so if you don't mind could you pm me some directions coming from pulaski.

I fished mexico bay today as well. Had 69 degrees no matter where i put the probe. Fishing was real bad, not one bite, although i marked quite a few fish in the 130 to 140 fow. Had streakers but no takers. We need some temp back.

Turned out to be the distributor plate was corroded, the guy who fixed it for me cleaned it up and now is running good. Although he told me that the same problem would happen again if i do not replace the plate because there are a couple rivets in the plate that are corroded. He also recommended that i switch to a electronic ignition so i never have to worry about this problem again. Just wondering if anyone else has done this.

All the plugs on one side were wet and the other side were dry.

Took the boat out this morning ran fine. 1 hour into trolling it starts to spit and sputter and then quitting. I got a tow in and while at the dock i noticed that one side of the engines plugs were fouled. I changed the plugs but that only lasted a little while before doing the same thing. I checked to the oil and it looks good was wondering if possibly a coil or points or carb needs rebuild or cleaned. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Nice job. I fished out of mexico bay this morning and it was pretty rough out in 150fow. We moved in to the 100fow range and it was much more manageable although we never moved a rod all morning. Forecast is not looking to good for the east end, looks like we may get iced out if these east winds don't let up.

Thanks bigweenies. Stopped into Jons this morning and picked up the fly, but of course i couldn't walk out with just the fly. Always feel like a kid in a candy store, gotta have one of everything.

I was at the captains meeting but i did not know they were giving away stuff. I thought they were all raffles. I bought an arms length of tickets from the little girls who were selling them. There were so many people and this was the first time i have ever entered a derby so i wasn't quite sure how everything goes. I am near jons little salmon, and my boat is docked right at mikes marina east. Any how it was a lot of fun fishing that challenge and we even placed (22nd), not bad i thought considering first time and all. I am already signed up for the fair haven challenge as well, i think this stuff may become addictive. Thanks a lot for the reply bigweenies, its nice to know you guys go out of your way for us small guys.

First off nice fish. Second, I fished the lsr and did not get the fly but i also noticed in a thread about the fair haven challenge that there were prizes and or gifts that did not make it in time for the lsr and were to be carried over to the fair haven challenge. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Had computer problems and had to open a new account. Been around for a little while now. Thanks to everyone for all the good info. Have a new to me boat this year and hope to catch lots of fish out of it. See you guys here and on the water.
