  1.      The people of NYS really are dumb !! A sweep of the governors pen and every adult boat operator will be  treated like the 14 year old from the day before... and people stand up and applaud it !! Some of us wonder why this state is so screwed up...... You don have to look very far.

It is not all of us. People in NY City practically control the whole state because it is population center.

A stroke of his pen and he made all the law abiding gun owners who own a semi automatic handgun

a felon if they put more than 7 rounds in their 9-10 or 15 round mag. Talk about a Dumb Ass useless law?

That was supposed to protect our school children. If I could move out of the state, I would be flying like

    a bat outta hell!

  2. There is nothing like doing a retrieve and out of the blue there is a long predator right at the boat.

He inhales it before you can even react and your rod bends over and drag starts working overtime.

Had steel leader so was not worried about him cutting it off. I have caught bigger but this guy was

sure fun!  Especially since fishman930 netted it.

  3. Thanks for the info Pap. I was up there last year and got too close to that 2nd island

and it was real shallow and I dinged my prop on some rocks so I was kind of leery

about navigating it and turned around. There were no walleye around that first island.

Salmon were rolling all over the place though. It was last weekend in Aug. Am thinking

of heading back up to Clayton again and maybe I will take a day and put in there again.

  4. Sure can vouch for what Sk8man said. Oh I can get the girls to go once in awhile but they

sure as hell dont want to get up at 5 or 6 like they used to. If I have a fishing buddy to go with

they dont mine not going at all.  Question though. Have put in at the launch at Dexter before.

About how many islands in that river before it empties into the big water?  Maybe I did not go

far enough to see more islands.

  5. left the house at 4:30 PM, after waiting to see what the weather would do. Lake was very

hot. More people were in the water than in boats. Some parts of lake had green algae bloom.

Fished close to shore trying to find some shade and had fun catching bass and big panfish.

Around 8, I felt the sun had gotten low enough so that the heat on the open water would be

bearable.  Headed to the walleye spot and after a few casts, told my daughter I thought she

should get the net. After  a spirited fight, this guy came to the net. Best one yet this year.post-146628-0-75013600-1373205850_thumb.jpg

  6. Hope to have the boat ready to hit the water by next weekend. Am hoping it will warm up

a bit but I know crappies are biting because my neighbor says he has been catching them

at Sodus. But he says he goes at 10 PM and stays out til 3 or 4. I have to work during the

week so I cant handle those hours.

  7. Thanks ERABBIT.  Do you have any additional support when running?  I am picturing some of the waves we hit on Erie and Ontario and I am wondering how it will hold up if it cant handle trailering.

I found that the best way to handle it while trailering or running the boat is not to rely on the pin or lever that is on the motor that is designed to keep it up. It will not hold.  I got a seasoned piece of wood ( an old ax handle ) and cut it down so it fits snugly in the space between the motor and the mount. Wedge it tight enough so there is as little play

as possible but not so tight that you cant pull it out when you reach the spot that you want to put the kicker down and

    use it.
