Fisherman21... Just wiki'd up the story on the grass carp....noticed they were introduced for some of the same reasons the bighead and silvers were, but not in the same places (catfish farmers in the south). They are not at all like their benthic feeding cousins and seem like they would b great fighters compared 2 the common carp. Had no idea they were even around upstate NY... Will give them a try. And they say here that they are wary feeders as U have stated. Thanx.....(BTW... will definitely release any, if any, are caught, and will explore by myself!).

panfish and hermit, if I caught a sturgeon it would be accidental. I have heard people have been catching a few off the peirs going for perch and catfish on minnows or worms. I do fish for catfish out on the pier a lot so if I incidentally caught one there would be nothing I could do. I would obviously release it unharmed. Just saying it one if the ny species I have never caught. And panfisher, good luck on the grass carp. Ill pm about it.

My buddy and I were bow fishing i bay a couple weeks ago and we shot at two goldfish and got one of them. It was pretty big and cool to see. I'll post the pic soon

Does anyone know any hot spots for Gar in the Rochester area. I had 7 on today down at sandy creek in the marina then the owner kicked me out. I was using a rope fly but i lost all of them. What's up with that

Panfisher they are grass carp. Actually the first year I've caught one. Thanks for the thumbs up. I love chasing and trying to get big fish. My goal is a sturgeon by the end of summer. Just picked up bowfishing up about a month ago. It's a blast. I don't mean to be rude by any means, but the water i got the grass carp in is pretty small, so I'm going to try and keep it quiet. They are very warry fish and spooky easily if over fished. I do know the pond infront of unity hospital has some though, if that helps

Took my first hack at Gar yesterday evening. Made a couple of those rope flys up and gave it a try. I didn't see any Gar on the surface but last week they were everywhere. What's up with that. I did have a small one on but it pulled free.

I threw a royal coachman dry fly in the puddle on my perch microlight pole. Check this monster out.

Well, pretty much I suck at turkey hunting. But that's expected, as it is my first year ever going for them. The first time I went was Thursday. And I went the last two days. It's way harder than deer. I've seen birds every time out but couldn't close the deal, plus my calling is a joke. Would anyone be willing to help, or even be able to put me on my first bird. I love it though

cant believe in took a 7 inch chub, and right in the day, bright sun and everything

went 2 for 5 on browns. lost a nice pike and got a sheephead. shinners and green and silver cleos produced. one of the brows i got had an alwive hanging out of his mouth.
