I spool up 20 lbs big game. When the fleas arrive I tie on a 50 lbs spro swivel and wind on 200 ft of sea flee. Filling the whole reel with sea flee is just a waste. And it's big diameter line that takes up a lot of space.

I ended up ordering the #1 size and the extra weights.

You only drill one new hole if you install the extra half keels.

Yesterday I ran my board lines shorter than I have in the past and caught just as many fish. And it was easier to do a u-turn. I try to plan ahead as I come into traffic. Pick a clear way out of a disaster before it happens. Even if it takes you out of the desired path/depth. And as you saw those weird turns might just generate a strike. It wasn't bad yesterday. I've been in the middle of the fleet in Oswego with 50 other boats in every direction imaginable. Now that's a cluster!!

Nice job! I have a bunch of those scorpions and never really tried them.

It makes for a great fish story! I never saw the big fish I lost. It stayed down. Pulled some serious drag! And hit as I was putting the line in the planer board release. I'm thinking a big brown...but could have been a king. What did your king hit a spoon or stick?

Saw you guys out there. We had the same type of success. All cookie cutters and lost a bruiser 60 ft behind the boat. Great day to be out!
-
Do you guys run the sd00 or sd1 size? I'm planning on running these in the top 50 fow.

Don't forget to buy a ssw (sea sick waddler by dreamweaver or finger lakes). That and a nbk are must haves. I guarantee you will catch fish on most of the spoons you already have for lake george. Grab a couple that others have suggested and have at it!

Those fish can def reek havoc!! You know immediately it's not a trout!!!

Yup 7-8 is good.

You'll be fine with the 10 lbs leaders. We caught many Browns last year in gin clear water with 12 lbs leaders and 20 main.I have 15 lb test on my reels...I just spooled them up with seaguar for browns...should I run a lighter leader? If so what length? I have a bunch of 10 lb seaguar fluorocarbon...or should I just respool with 10 lbs? I figured 15 would be good all around for lake Ontario... Didn't realize browns were that line shy

I've had good catches in gin clear water. Keep covering water till you hit some fish!

I'd rather stack 2 rods with a flasher/fly on the bottom and a spoon above. Just in case they want that flasher/fly!!
-
12 lbs just in case we hook a spring King!!

Ugly Stick model BWD 1101 in 9ft. Can pick up for $50 to $60 bucks. I have run core and copper off them for years on over 40 rods without one problem!
I like these the best. I have these and the Okuma's also.

I always took a left out of the Mexico launch. Usually start hitting fish just before catfish creek. 10 fow average.

If I'm fishing deep...I prefer stacking rods. The hook-up percentage on sliders is terrible. And I hate untangling the lines every time they get twisted together when you bring them up. But to each their own.
