Impulse bought a raven helix at Fat Nancy's last week to go on an okuma float rod I had for reasons I'm still not sure of, organizing tackle tonight I came to the realization that I will never use it and need to get rid of it.
Reel is a blue and orange raven helix spooled with 10# clear suffix pro mix and braid backing. Brand new never left the garage week and a half old.
Rod is an equally new okuma aventa 13'6 with fixed real seat.
240$ for both no trades.

Throw them in the garbage.

I've use both 40# mono and 50# power pro, currently using power pro as it's much softer than the mono, 10' or so and change it every few weeks, my 2 year old wire still looks brand new and I can break my rods down without worry.

Big John is a good choice. I run them. dont let your rod holder dictate how you set your drags. no snubber, and keep it as tight as possible without locking it down. you will have a much better landing percentage due to better hook sets. let em pound on it then loosen it up as needed.

There is not a stronger rod holder on the market.
