Alright fish finally turned on. Boated 4 kings a couple steelies in last hr. hooked into a screamer on 250' wire meat rig as soon as my buddy touched the drag to set it up. 450' run and still fighting. Pearl sd and mtn dew meat rig as well as lazier spook slider

Me too. Nothing out deep. Came back in to 250' and got the skunk out with a small steelie

It will. All Wes needed was an address. I talked to him yesterday.

I don't get out much anymore. I own built-right home improvements here in newfane and when the sun is shining I'm usually working. I keep the boat on the trailer now and get out once a week. Let me know how u do.

I know Wes pretty good and can honestly say i would not expect any shady behavior like that from him. He's always been a class act in my book. I'm going to see him today. I'll talk to him about it and pm u later.

Nice deer. These cool mornings have me up earlier and thinking about the woods.

I use them for 250'. Was a 300 but, u know.

I'll drink to thatI understand everyone's point of view and there will always be the great archery debate I say we all just say piss on it and let's go fishin cause we still have some amazing fishing ahead of us before any hunting occurs lol

I am through and through compound bow but I still don't see any negatives about crossbows, ya sure there will be a increase in hunters but so what let people enjoy the outdoors. Personally if the don't allow crossbows they shouldn't allow compounds then traditional archery because I no I can still shoot my compound just as good as someone shooting a crossbow even out to 55
U can shoot your compound that good because you put the time into it. Archery is 90% about the hardwork, practice, preparation, etc. that comes before the ability to harvest an animal. Regular season is for the immediate results of picking up a weapon, putting the crosshairs on a target, and pulling the trigger. Again this falls on the laziness of society. If u want to hunt during archery, spend the time learning how to shoot an archery implement such as a longbow, recurve, or compound. And by the way, there is no way you can consider a crossbow similar to a compound. True Bowhunters understand this. Like Chas said, I rarely even hunt during reg season because of the amount of hunters and undue pressure on the deer.

I believe the Fish Hawk operates at 70kHz. It is a fairly unique marine sonar frequency and won't pose an interference problem with common 50/83/120/200 kHz sonar transducer frequencies.
You may wish to consider, as part of your boat selection process, the ability to mount a high performance thru-hull transducer or in-hull transducer vs. a transom mount transducer for your main sonar unit. Generally speaking, a high speed thru-hull or in-hull transducer will perform better than a transom-mount transducer and would be more desirable from a performance aspect. For a fish hawk, transom mount will be fine. Hull design and trailer configuration will play a role in this. I would make sure to ask each boat manufacturer your considering about this. If they offer a thru-hull /in-hull location or "prep" for one, try to judge whether this is integral to the hull design or something they are willing to add on (I'd be very cautious of the latter).
If you go to the Airmar website and study the information there, you can learn a lot about the options available to you. Then, when you talk to the boat manufacturers about what they have to offer, you will be well informed and able to make a decision that best meets your needs and the capabilities of your chosen hulls. I learned from experience, the hard way, by not doing this. I ended up having to spend a fortune on a transducer that both worked well with my unique boat hull and met my performance expectations. I was lucky that this particular transducer was available for my Garmin black box as it is not available for every sonar manufacturer.
Well said. I will be upgrading from a transom mount ducer to a thru hull next yr. On calm days the transom mount is great but a little turbulence and chop, is frustrating. I LOVE my fish hawk x-4 unit. It's the most important mid summer tool for lake o fishing. If u find the temp and fish your lures in it, above it and below it, u will get bit. It keeps u from fishing below the fish which is such a common mistake. I like my lowrance hds 7 but I'm sure hummingbird, ray marine and garmin make similar units.

Great job guys. I'm gonna try for a Thursday morning outing. How long u in town for? Mr. P is that u? U were a sub at Newfane and I sided the old meat processing place on Lkpt Olcott

If I'm fishing deep (50' and below), I lead spoons 10-20'. If I'm fishing shallow ( less than 50') I may lead spoons 30-40'. My thinking is closer to the surface and the boat, farther back so as not to spook the fish. Sometimes coho and steelies like it in the prop wash though. It depends on what your targeting. I have caught a few while letting my lead out and as soon as I snap the release shut, there's a fish on it. Flashers, I primarily run spin doctors and echips, are always 10-12' for me.

No. I just upgraded one side to Bert's, I still need 3 for the other side, along with 24" of track. If I sell these and my titeloks, the boss will let me get them. Lol

U can make a stacker release from a blacks release by removing the snap that attaches to the ball and threading it on to your rigger cable before terminating it. Then peg it to your cable by using a toothpick after you let your first line down to desired depth. When the stacker release hits the pulley on the way up it will slide down the cable

Oh u won't be on the wrong end in a few weeks. The East end has the best staging salmon bite in nys. If we didn't have so much work to get done before the snow flies, I would come out there just to experience that myself.

Finished 8 for 8 with 7 kings and a steelie. Released all but 3 and the steelie. The tourney rigs I tied after breaking so many off last weekend were the ticket. All 4 hooks into most of the fish, and landed 100%.
