  1. I bought a Lowrance HDS 8 with Insight Mapping from Reeds for $849 plus a $200 mail in rebate ($649 when all said and done). Its a gen 1 sonar/ gps unit with radar capability. Not sure if they still have them for sale at this price or not.

  2. Here are a few pics from november when we brought her home. The last pic is while working on it. and now she's all ready to go, but I have no pics of her yet as she's still in the barn. I have my homemade lure organizers mounted on both sides and the transom, the raymarine sonar in the back so i can see the depth of the weights when setting lines, Lowrance HDS-8, FishHawk X4, and Raymarine Radar all in front, and most importantly the NEW King Slammin' Decal for the transom. It's a family fishing machine.

  3. I've been fishing for trout and salmon since i could walk. My first King ever caught was 27 lbs and I was only 4 at the time ( the fish was bigger than I was) is the only one I had mounted. Since then I've caught many over 30 and one just over 40 but never wanted to spend the money on a mount. Things might change this year if I get a pretty one over 30 lbs or so.

  4. Get the Tite-Loks if you are looking for the best bang for the buck. They have seperate bases so you can mount one up front for bass fishing then just move the holder from the back. If money is no object, big jons ratchet holders are built like tanks. I use the Tite-loks.

  5. I can say that if you ever need parts for the cannon's (2000 and newer) Fish307 has everything for you. I just picked up 2 mag 10's (3 yrs old) w/ swivel bases for $600 and 2 mag 5 HS w/ swivel bases for $500. Unknown at the time, one of the mag 5's circuit board had a bad up relay. I had to order a new circuit board from Fish 307. Had it in 3 days, and its just a couple plugs and done. Bought some 64" booms to replace the 24" on the mag 5's. so for $1200 total I have 4 lightly used mag 10's (Mag 5's became mag 10's w/ the addition of the longer boom) now w/ swivel bases. I'll have to get a few season's into them before I give them too much credit.

  6. Search for McDonough marine and contact him. His number will be changed to a florida number until he comes back to town. The docks are in pretty bad shape, and the amenities suck but you would be right below the TimeOut II which has some pretty good chicken wings and beer.I think he's right around $50 per ft. for the season. You would have to get on a waiting list for Olcott.

  7. You have to find out what works in the given situation. Deep kings may like one color compared to morning kings riding higher in the water column. You can't go wrong with greens, chartreuse, and old faithful black/purple. As you fish more, you'll notice on some days that one dipsey keeps firing while the rest of your set is pretty quiet. Thats when you throw out as many matching lures as you can, and get ready for all hell to break loose. Man I can't wait to fish!!!

  8. Thanks guys. I know Dawn pretty well. I'm good friends with her son Nick. Already on the waiting list for the town side, as i knew they would go fast. Voorhees, you pretty much confirmed my thoughts on Mcdonoughs side. He charges too much for the crappy conditions. It's too bad he won't put any money into the docks there. It would be a nice spot with all the bars and restaurants on that side. I would like to see the renovations in the marina. Having lived in Newfane my whole life, there's always talk of it but never anything done. I've always fished out of a 16 or 17 foot boat that I trailered. I just want to get out of work and hop into the new rig and go.

  9. I'm going to get a slip for my 24.5' boat this year, but I can't decide if I want to dock at the McDonough side or the Town side of the marina. I like the fact that I can have dinner and drinks at Timeout II and then walk down to the boat and hang out if i choose to dock on the Mcdonough side, but I know the dock area is in pretty bad shape compared to the Town side. The duck weed also collects at the Mcdonough side and how bad does that mess with your outdrive and bottom paint. I would need shorepower for sure as well. Anybody have an opinion they would care to share, its much appreciated?

  10. This year was my first time attending the show. I thought you guys did an amazing job for a bunch of fisherman :D I had fun, and met a few of the members from LOU. I picked up some nice tackle and equipment at show prices. It all just fueled the fire and I can't wait to get back on the water. I picked up a 500' copper set up for my son to reel in the "Big One" on. Can't wait to see his face after that.
