  1. try west side in am and pm...first and last two hours....marking alloootttt of bait stacked on the shelf when west wind pushes em in tight....i mainly run copper and fish a handline... been getting post spawn jacks @ the top of the shelf from 35 to 21 ft of water.....if u can keep the weeds off....then as i pull off the shelf headed deep i seem to get random L.Ls and browns....nothing huge ....but always with bellys fullll of bait....they spit them @ you when they get in the boat.no bows for me yet this year.... but riggers with suttons and dipsys with pro flies and dreanweavers are the trick out deep...green is the color. i put green ribbed tape on all my suttons b4 they go down....lakers are taking on my handline off the bottom in 45ft out to 80 ft. good action from belhurst to just south of Kashong....havnt been down to dresdon yet this year...havnt needed to go that far to find heavy schools of bait and fish surrounding them.....also have had luck vert jigging berkley gulp, big minnows 4inch in smelt and the white saltwater ones on 3/4 oz. white jighead with orange eyes and black jigheads with white eyes just after the morning bite shuts down.....puts another trout or two in the boat b4 u wana go in for brunch!

  2. roys is on west side between glass factory bay and reed bay...hes got alot of trout and perch gear for sale too.and if your nice hes got alot of info as alot of the west side fisherman who actually catch fish dock or frequent there quite often.

  3. right now...softshell crabs or hard ones...bottom rigged and suspended onyour line with snells......fished under the dam @ mays point in Montezuma .....u will hook up into tem plus lb. fish ....i caught almost a dozen last year and year before that pushed 15-17lb. saw a 22lb. caught near baitshop. :talk::beer:

  4. heard about it in my monthly dec email newsletter.....caught it up above inlet eaglebay area in the west canada wilderness...adjacent to moose river plains and cedar river flow....theres some lunkers in those lakes up there just takes days to get to them!.....sweet read and lovely picture. some day ill make it up there for the ice out action and spring brookie bonanza....theres still a couple small lakes up in that wilderness and in MRP that have Kokanee Salmon...hard to catch and few and far between...beutifull fish unlike our river monsters we are used to seeing in the S.R.

  5. old SKOOL is def. where its at....record player and sutons.! u havnt felt a heartbeat untill uve landed a ten lb. laker alone on a handline......talk about heart in ur throat and a sense of sureal gratification when u land it!.....those few seconds after make u feel like the biggest man on the Lake.....in my opinion!.....dont hate if U cant skate.....better yet do better than ten on a handline then try and talk ****!1.

  6. IDIOT... took the check instead of the boat that fran barrett valued at over 6 G's......retail.....ida taken the boat and waited two or three weeks to make 5 off it in my front yard....nice rig. not to mention for letting it sit down there for three days and for towing it back to the marina Fran took 500 dollars off the deal......not a bad profit for nothing I say!......EVERYONE BUT THE WINNER MADE OUT LIKE BANDITS!.he musta needed the cASH.

  7. sutton has been back @ it since late winter....theyve got everything but the heavy spoons.....no material supplier left for them to get the heavy guage for the 88 22 23 35 heavy singles...everything else they should have on the shelves unless someone like me has just been down to naples to empty em out!

  8. i fish the small ones off a handline on a victrola....@ the bottom tailed by a sutton 44 custom rigged with a single fixed hook for less weeds and stronger hookup ratios....sometime rig a false setup of big bells maybe a string of three, 5 to 8 above the bottom set like a seth green on a three way, but no hooks up top and the little set tailed by the 44 @ the bottom gets verocious hits.

  9. trying to tell fellow fisherman what their eating, and where im catching them/well what depths persay.....what button might that be Sir? 8) I dont think i have one of those on my keyboard. should i start a new thread every other day for seneca or jump on one many others have allready commentsed on regarding their days on the water??????? I must be missing sumthing 8)

  10. pulled copper tonight for about an hour, lake was FLAT...landed two over 9lbs. returned to lake and kept one that was 31 inches but a lil to skinny to win the big bux in the derby....He went in the garden after disection....he had about 3 dozen shinners and other minnows in his stomach and was spitting them out upon netting!......all bites were at the bottom 35-55 FOW

  11. indeed and maybe when they are finished with the fish@ the Chamber, I can use it for garden fertilizer! grow some Bodacious Indian corn on that mound! three trophys for the price of one!... lmao  the fish, the prize, and the crops.

nice punning on the ol' Victory garden, in such a time of recession not to shaby i say, for a national trout derby.

  12. thanks guy~! yea a lil ,ok alot of debris in some spots, suchas downwind of kashong....and a lil mud left up here but not enuff mud to speak of....just branches and floating debris'..... and for a 13 foot dinghy and a victrola its nothing i cant rough through to find the bigguns. Ive lost three ten+ lakers this spring in the propwash alone....hope they stick around my honeyholes till derby time! ive been doin my best to weed out the light ones in my bay so "maybe" derby weekend itll make getting the big boys a lil easier. for me or the other boats, I dunt know but ill take my odds. :beer:8)

  13. i pulled copper from roys marina to kashong and couldnt keep my line in the water sunday......landed prolly tem lakers from 4-8 lbs. lost a whomper i towed behind the boat for what seemed like fifteen mins......all hookups came from 35 to 55 making S-swings over the shelf.....first fish ate my sutton b4 i even felt bottom. twas a stellar weekend for me that light chop was holding the bAIT and the fish right on the drop offs......never had so many short strikes and hookups come like that in under 50 foot of water...

  14. fished last night for an hour and landed 3 30 inch lakers and lost about 7 or 8 hookups...short strikes......put some berkley gulp2" smelt palstic bait on my sutton spoons and let-r back down.......hits were ferocious!!!!!!!!!!!! going out in a few mins to do it again!
