I shoot Lightfield Exp 2 3/4 12ga through my rifled slug gun barrel. I tried several brands and they had the best groups, by far, for me and my buddy. We both have Hastings barrels, if that makes any difference. I haven't bought any for a couple years, but don't remember them being super expensive.

We didn't fish for any walleyes pap. We've caught some there fishing for muskies over the years, but i don't know anything about the walleye fishing in the lake. I do know the Detroit River has excellent walleye fishing in the spring though.

My buddy Todd and I got to St Clair for a few days before the gales hit today. Water temps are still a little warm at about 50 degrees and shad are starting to migrate. We got some fish each day, but not what we came for until the afternoon of our final day. Mission accomplished though. Here's a pic of Todd's fat 52"er.

Cool topic. I like your idea for the tourney.
We've caught several big species, incidentally, while muskie fishing. Dad got a 35 pound flathead that ate a 6in muskie bait at 5mph. I got a 7lb Chautauqua smallmouth on a 5in shad bait at 5mph.
But to answer your question, my personal best walleye is a 13lber i got on a 10" straight believer while trolling for muskies on the st lawrence. Weve also caught big walleyes on 5" shad baits like tuff shads and boss shads. Got a 10lber on a Boss Shad at West Branch in OH last spring.

Nice fish choo-choo. The St Lawrence produces some of the largest, if not the largest, muskies on the planet. Low density or numbers go hand in hand with that. The resource/muskie population is very fragile and important there.

Cold and wet out there today. Finally felt like fall. North end is around 63 degrees and south is down to about 59 already (down 10 deg from last weekend) We got some today, with one good one for Dad. All our action was in the major and minor.

We bought them for the trailer for our previous boat (aluminum Crestliner and Eagle trialer) and didn't like them. We took them back off the trailer right away. Made it too slick and wore the paint off the bottom of the boat.

I bought a Frabill cradle last winter just to weigh fish in. I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it will work well and nothing will support the fish better. I also just intend to use my 60lb Boga as the scale. I'll wait for one that appears to be over 40lbs to test it out...be nice if I got that chance over the next couple months.
Another easy way to get an approximate weight is to just put a bathroom scale in your boat. Weigh yourself holding the fish and then weigh yourself without the fish and subtract.

Could have something to do with what hole the motor is mounted on. I'd guess it has more to do with your prop. I think a prop with more cupping creates more bow lift. I'd also guess you might want a 19 pitch prop.

Congrats on your fish. The pic you attached is very small. I'll have to try get a better look from my desktop when I get to work.
Do you have a smart phone with the pictures on it, and do you use the LOU app? If so, it's very simple and more or less self explanatory...you just attach a photo using the photo icon when you are posting.
If you are using a laptop or desktop, you probably need to use on online photo storage system like photobucket, and copy and paste the image url into your post here.

Nice! Great story.
I happened to catch that you had those two fish with just the leader in the water. Im surprised nobody commented. It 's not a very widely used technique. Most guys would consider 10 to 20' short line trolling. We do it quite a bit in the spring in OH for prespawn fish in 2-6 fow. Leader right against the tip of the rod. We run side rods like that too. Quite a few guys over there do it. You are probably already doing this, but i usually like to run a lighter drag than normal on that short of a line. Helps if they can pull line kind of easy and not jump. I once caught one over 30 some fow with no line out. They are crazy fish.

I agree with Mike that the size and quality of fingerlings stocked has the biggest impact on survival rates. I gather that the pellet fed hatchery tigers are pretty dumb, for lack of a better term.
