  1. Tried that and it doesn't seem to slip at all.
  2. We hit Lake Champlain today with our Islander 191 and things were going GREAT, great weather, great lake, great time! On the way back i was running probably 20-mph and it was as if the motor jumped into neutral and the revs shot up, I shut her down quick not knowing what happened. Lifted the Alpha and checked to see if I drop the propeller or something and everything looked normal. So I tried to get her to plane and the revs would shoot up after about 2k. So we limped back to the dock at a blazing 10-12 mph. At some point when trying to plane, the engine was turning what I felt (sounded) was a 3000-3200 rpm but the tach was in the 4000+ range. Did some diggin' when I got home and spun prop was one of possibilities. Pulled it off and it look normal, I think, I'm no prop expert. So I'm not sure what the problem is, any ideas? Here's the prop: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpz6mja7xfokae6/prop_2.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipvh7y68t3om801/Prop_1.jpg
  3. Can you tell me what model it is? By the looks of it and the description would be this one: In which case sells new for about $160-170!
  4. So this would work? http://www.ssisportsftp.net/RG/Cannon/2207003.jpg
  5. I bought two used Cannon Dr`s and I think they are 10`s. My Islander already had two base plates on the back, but the bottom that came with the 10`s is a square block and is alot smaller than the plate. This is what on the boat: http://img.myshopping.com.au/rsz400/cache/2495/FE/3C8E8A5319EFB30228F08D408F13015EE16069.jpg?aHR_cDovL1d1dy3qdXN_Ym7hdGluZy3jb0_uYXUvaW-hZ0VzL1Byb0R-Y1RzbGFyZ0UvNWY_M0U3MzEtMzZhNC__NTE3LTkyYmEtOWE2YWJhMGZiNDYzXzEuanBnCS6yNDk-L_ZFLzNDOEU2QTUzMTlFRkIzMDIyOEYwOEQ_MDhGMTMwMTVFRTE0MDY3LmpwZwAA And this came with the DR`s: http://www.neobits.com/images/tr8734250/22/2207323.jpg What do I need to "fix" the issue? Thx Danny
  6. I hope it works as good as in the videos, I just ordered some!!! Can hardly wait to see a clean bottom....
  7. I retrieved my Islander from storage and it's time to clean her up. First I want to attack the hull since it has a really scuzzy coat of brown clap. PO left the boat docked on a very dirty river.... Take a look: https://photos-2.dropbox.com/t/0/AAC3pFzUH9nCqi-WnEOzj9dWtCJrn_32THHxHHDvBwFuTA/12/93563571/jpeg/32x32/3/1368421200/0/2/SC_10.jpg/ReH_vbaqrWT0qsknt0Ehx_vX6i9AdiMATogyJc1dTkY?size=1280x960 Have any suggestions of products you've used without attacking the paint? Second question, I would need to replace the front part of the roof canvas. Do you think these still be available from the factory??? Thx Danny https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zga2sww9i89wp6s/4cDcswoKv-#/
  8. I saw this today at a local store. http://www.masterlock.com/product_details/OutboardMotorLocks/430DSPT It slides over your screws and locks at the end.
  9. My issue is not fuel saving but rather getting more for my $$$. As I stated above the reason for the kicker is safety first and then trolling (which will be new to me), that being said if I can buy a second hand well maintained motor that will do the job and be reliable that will work for me. The whole reason for the "boat/fishin'" thing is to have a family "event". I have two sons 10-12 that seem to enjoy it and my wife loves to fish so it's a test to see if it'll "catch on" lol. I'm trying to keep the investment low so if it doesn't work out I'm not eating my shirt. I am an avid motorcyclist as well as an 4x4 off-roader, neither of which my wife wishes to participate in, so I thought I'd give this a try. Of course with funds being spread out among the hobbies it has a tendency to make a person more frugal....
  10. I found the same site up here in Canada. but looked up a Tohatsu dealer not far from me and the price was just as good. Basicly it's $2700 tax included but I'm having a hard time justifying investing that much money on a $3500 boat https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zga2sww9i89wp6s/4cDcswoKv-. I check local adds every day and came up with a 2003 8HP Honda long shaft with electric start that was used a little on a sailboat. It's more in my (mental) budget and it would leave $$$ for a decent mount and a few other fishing goodies.... So would an 8hp gonna cut it? lol
  11. I saw this tonight, it's only an 8hp and more than I wanted to spend but.,.... http://qc.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehicules-bateaux-vehicules-marins-vedettes-bateaux-a-moteur-Yamaha-t8-4t-2005-power-tilt-dem-elect-pied-XL-25-pouces-W0QQAdIdZ465548554
  12. I hate to ask, but I've searched and didn't come up with anything concrete. have a 1994 Starcraft Islander 191 with a a 3.0L and I want to add a kicker as a back up and secondly a trolling option (new to me). I have been looking at adds for a second hand four stroke due to budget restrictions. I see lots of 9.9 and 15hp's 4 strokers but most are short shafts. Bearing in mind I'm new to all this, can I assume I can use a adjustable jack plate and use a short shaft motor? The shorts are less rare than longs and would allow me to use it on my 14' jonboat as well. I would add a trollcontrol in next years budget as I'm selling off toys to finance my new hobby.... Ramble done, give me insight!
  13. Looks like I might have scored a 9.9 Yammy long shaft with controls, if I get there before the other vultures!!! lol
  14. I have a Islander 191 and am looking for a kicker but don't have a 4 stroke budget for this season, what size are you running and how'd you mount it? I have a full deck teak (I think) on the rear and will have to sacrifice a part of it and was thinking of mounting a tank to it to the kicker. I'm still reading alot and I'm not sure if I need a long shaft or not but I guess it depends on the mount.... I hate being a newbie! LOL Thx Danny
