  1. Monday 12th before sunset til 10 PM - Fished with jigs with crawlers around the south of Carlton Island in front of the Lighthouse in 35 to 40 FOW. Marked fish - none caught. Tuesday 13th 7 AM til 1 PM - Went out into the trench along the wall in 130 FOW 80 and 90 ft down with flies spindoctors white flashers and that natural born killer, plus used cowbells and a glow peanut closer to the bottom. 2.7 MPH and it was unbelievable rough and rainy. No fish caught. Wednesday 14th most of the day trolling and jigging Charmont Bay and we did get a Northern and a very nice smallmouth in the boat. This was the only calm enough water we could find to fish on with any hope of getting any good fish. Not exactly great but better than being at work. Thursday 15th morning til 1:00 PM we trolled out of Henderson Harbor boat launch toward the bridges and let the wind blow us at 1 mph across the harbor. Jigging and trying all sorts of stuff to catch something across a very flat 35 to 40 foot bottom. NOTHING! But just a boat length in front of us a very large brown trout jumped out of the water to let us know that he wanted to look and see who was in the boat, How weird is that? If I had been the only one who had seen it, I wouldn't have said a word because the guys wouldn't have believed me but two of us were watching a sailboat comeing toward us and there it was. My friends made the trip very worthwhile. Good sports about the whole thing and we still had a great time. I could probably give a better local restaraunt review than fish report. I did also meet Miss em as mentioned above and he was very pleasant at site no 4 at Cedar point st park. Thank you!
  2. Thanks Chas. I was up there and just got home. Managed to get out in the trench and trolled in 130 ft 80 and 90 feet down with spindoctor and fly and white flasher with a ladderback spoon and also ran NK cowbells with a glow whirly peanut and the waves and storm were a challenge on Tuesday but we were out there all morning til 1:30. at 2.7 mph on the GPS. No fish. Nada
  3. Would you please tell us what setup you were using on your downriggers. thank you.
  4. FleetTracker thank you very much for your tips, never used cowbells and can't be sure what a peanut is but the Sea sick waddler and natural born killers I can identify. Miss em I will be over to your campsite shortly after arrival on Monday the 12th in the afternoon and see if you are around. Thank you for your friendly help.
  5. 187 views but no replies so far? Less than a week to go. I have checked weather and fishing 10 day forecasts and things are looking very good. I know things can change quickly but getting out and fishing just before sunrise until late morning looks best. Hopefully we will have some luck. Still planning on using some small echip flashers and green - blue trolling flies off of 10 lb balls to start things off when we get out past Galloo Island. Any tips in this area would be greatly appreciated. I would like to see my crew do well. I'll hopefully be able to post a success story in follow-up to help others at some point. Thank you.
  6. I'm in the same situation. Going in mid Aug too. Just posted my first forum post a couple minutes ago. I want my crew to do well and I wouldn't mind catching a fish myself. Good luck!
  7. I think I may be prepared with tackle to try to catch pike walleye salmon. I know that conditions are far off for any specific advice. I will be camping at the Cedar Point St Pk. Plan on fishing for walleye with yellow jigs and nightcrawers and pike and maybe even catch a musky with some Super D's and other jointed large lures. I am taking a couple friends aboard my 17.5 I/O ft runabout. It would be most satisfying to have my buddies do well on this trip. I am used to doing poorly and could be happy if they had a good time catching some memories. I don't know how many more times I can do this as I am getting a little older and it's getting harder to just go up on the lake anymore. We will trailer the boat down to Henderson Harbor boat launch (conditions permitting) and hopefully get out past Galloo Island. I have a drift anchor and small downriggers. trolling flies, spoons, flashers, divers and dodgers. I have a GPS and I have a crappy depth finder but I can't rely on it for much more than how deep the water is. I may spot some fish. This isn't my first time out on Lake Ontario. Been there a dozen times out of Oak Orchard and back in the 80's I was up in Pulaski river and out trolling for salmon in the fall with success. I am getting too much information looking around the forum, so I decided to post and follow my own topic. Any advice for this time of year Aug 12-15 2013 and tips would be appreciated. Thank you kindly, Mike
  8. I am Mike, I have loaded up and been on Lake Ontario more than 15 times in small craft with downriggers for Salmon and Trout over the years. Lake Erie too but I never do very well. I joined the forum to learn more on how to fish the St Lawrence River and Eastern Basin. Trip is coming up in less than a month. Hope everybody catches a big fish !
