  1. Congrats on not giving up and landing a couple!

The first thing I can add is you need to get heavier gear. Get some cheap 9' dipsy rods from cabelas. I think they are $38 a peice. And if you want, but not necessary, the depth master line counter reels. Spool up with at least 65lb braid, some guys use heavy mono for baits that ride high in the water column, and good terminal tackle. Ball bearing swivels, quality crimps, good leader material etc.

Tools- knipex hook cutters, long needle now pliers, braid cutters, jaw spreaders, and a good quality big landing net.

I'm sure some other guys will chime in, but when it comes to muskie fishing, you have to spend the money on equipment to be sure these fish release healthy. Fighting muskies on light tackle takes way to much out of them and can be detrimental.

Good luck on the rest of your season, now that you have the itch!

  2. Yeah. Yesterday, at a party at my fathers, I had to step into the middle of a conversation when I heard a guy was muskie fishing on the river and lifted a 48" fish into the boat still in the net with hooks in it! I can assure you, he will never do that again. A 27 year old guy telling a 60+ year old man he's breaking the law and mishandling fish. It's a shame.

  3. I'm happy to post my reports. I was there Saturday and trolled in Mayville mostly. Had two fish hit in between storm fronts around 130pm. They were 15 minutes apart. Both fish were in the 28-29" range. That was it for us. First time on that lake, so just having a rod fire made me happy.

  4. Nice job. Yesterdays weather did something to these fish to shut them right down. I was trolling for pike and after 8am, it was done. Not a single fish the rest of the day.

The tigers seem to be holding out over deep water still the the recent cold snap. No different up my way from whats going on down there. I'm headed out this afternoon.

  5. Was great meeting some of you guys today! I connected with two fish, one of which was legal. It was out over 50 fow and hit a 6" walleye pattern Jake 10' down. We trolled the whole time just trying to cover water. I'll definitely be back to fish Otisco again this year. Really nice lake and scenery.

  6. As much as I don't want to say this, I now will not be able to make it. Just as soon as my partner assured me he was good to go and I got us a camp site and dock for Friday night, he backed out on me today. If my truck wasn't in the shop getting body work done from storm damage, I'd be there.

Sorry guys, next year I'll be there! I was looking forward to this event. I'll be sure to be at

    the next one.

    Jay
