That’s awesome!
Whaler
i used your info from the other week about the kings out of temp! I didn’t want to try to get out any deeper with the waves so 100 fow it was. It worked out!
2 screamers in 2+ hrs makes a fun night!
what is the trick with the Braddocks channel? Trim up the lower unit and pray?

Hadn’t been out in a few weeks and zero recent reports made me try the closest port! After sand blasting my prop to get out of the channel into the NE rollers we figured out why all the family boats were on the inside of the bay! We pounded out to our planned starting point of 100fow where 2 other larger boats were spread out.
The 3’ waves and relentless NE wind made it a little more fun than planned as we could only trolled west but the first screamer while releasing a skipper made the night interesting. Unfortunately it came unbuttoned! So we pounded back east to set up for a west troll again. Got past our mark and a bit further west when the 2nd screamer ripped! 25 minutes later my daughter had her personal best 25.2 lb king in the boat!
all in 95-105 fow…
skipper 90 over 105 green spin dr with meat
screamer lost 80 over 105 white green spin dr with crazy **** fly
25 lb king 65 over 95 on green glow DW spoon
Hope this info gives someone a starting point!- 8

Also fished Sandy at first light. While setting up my dispy rod salmon hit and took a lot of line out. On its second run hook came out, which didn't surprise me as he hit while the drag was loose to let line out so I could get my other rods in the water. Thought is was going to be a good day but could only manage one other small salmon. Very frustrating day. Fished from 120 to 300. Don't know if I should have stayed shallow or gone off shore.
Ric66 you basically recapped my trip from 8/6 out of Sandy. Some days I wonder if I should have zigged when I zagged! You are not alone!

Sorry for the late report. I was thinking a Braddocks boat would give an update.
we were out of sandy creek early. Cold water was in close. Probably at bottom in 60-70 fow
we hit 2 kings (5# and 12”) and a few knock offs from 130-300 fow. Moved back in tight in 70-110 fow but no takers
black and purple spoon and carbon 14 took fish
meat rig and green spin dr took hits
slow but nice to be out
best of luck!!

Yes Celsius
22 C = 72 F
8 C = 46 F
sorry for my delayed response
it helps you see the cold upwellings and how stratified the water column is Makes you understand why offshore is typically more stable water as upwelling are on the south and north shore not offshore

I am addicted to the temp profiles on this site!! Shows upwellings and gives you an almost daily idea of how stable the water is in your area

90 fow inside screen is very busy with bait and marks but no talers. Have 44 degrees 80 over 90 fow. It was worth the try!

We moved out to 300+ with only another skippy. Trolled into 170 and just took a rip on a dipsy. Lost it. Not big but a fish Still marking fish 60-80 over 170 fow

Fished the evening with my wife and daughter out of sandy started 170fow in front of Hamlin beach fished out to 220. Lots of bait in 170 but no takers. 1st rainbow came 70 over 200. Black silver purple spoon. 2nd rainbow was on a dipsey #2 setting out 175. Black and raspberry over 215 fow. Had to call it quits early for my daughter and had a 15” king take a carbon 14 while I was starting to clear lines in 220fow. More bait in 170 but more action in 200-220.

You do not suck alone!!
On Saturday out of the oak the only other boat we saw with a fish on lost the small 2-5# fish at the net! Yes we laughed!
But our payback was only pulling in one shaker! We marked bait at all ranges but couldn’t buy a bite!
For the life of me I can’t figure out why I suck so bad!! The problem is that it is consuming me to break my curse!!! But I have to work all week!!
I am going to try some lighter leads off my 25# mono and longer leads off my riggers!! Something has to give!!
-
Ha ha salt on my wound!
Good for you!
We saw you set down in 250 fow as we headed to 300. When you turned out we turned in. Didn’t want to crowd you as it is a big lake. We found bait and marks in all areas but just couldn’t buy a release! You definitely had a hot spot!
I blamed my dad both times out with him this season we have been skunked! 🤔
-
Congratulations!
I was west of you out of sandy creek last night! Found the same temp worked 300+ fow for a while had bait and marks but zero hook ups. Trolled in and worked 200ish fow for a while again some bait and some marks and zero hook ups. Trolled into 100fow some bait some marks and zero hook ups. Gave up!
