Yeah. I think I was going slow with waves. No probe yet. I try to watch my dipsy rods loaded and blowback to judge speed. I did pick up a few when bumped speed.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting. I had three fish hit my dipsy setup while I dropped it back a few feet after it was running a while.

I have two for riggers. I like them. Good value for the $$.

The last few trips I've been seeing a decent amount of fish come up to the ball, sometimes follow, then nothing. Didn't get many rigger bites those days. Anybody else experience this? I"m running 20lb main line right to swivel. Running 20 to 30 feet behind ball. Thinking about putting on about 10ft of fluorocarbon for leader.

Two Okuma White Diamond wire rods. 10ft 2pc Med/heavy. Roller tips. Like new. 119$ Brand new. Will sell the pair for 180$. Used twice. Want shorter rods for my boat.

Dropped at 160. Pretty good for first couple hours. Staying 180-200. Then worked out to 450. Was a slow pick after the first few hours. Finished landing 8 out of 13. Largest about 15lbs. Spoons and FF. Most boats I saw were way off in the horizon.

Has anyone used the dipsy rods that come with the roller tips? Like Okuma makes. Do you like them better than twill tips?

Thanks for the report. Good stuff.

Thanks for the response! I've been keeping an eye on the weather trying to time my trip.

Hello All,
I'm trying to time a trip in late April. I won't have indoor storage. I have a Verado and Pro Kicker. Given that time of the year, there still is a chance for overnight freezing temps. Just wondering what you all do, or if that will be a problem.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. This is great news. Ok, now I have two manual Cannons for sale!

Hello everyone. Great board. Amazing info shared.
Any general advice for putting power to electric down riggers? Will be running two. Thinking about upgrading from my manuals. I run a 19ft Lund. Current power is my main starter. Then I have a 24 volt electric system up front. My preference would be to run off my two batteries up front. I have a charger wired to them, won't be using the electric when using down riggers, and would like to avoid an extra battery on the boat.
Anybody doing this? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

So Monday looked like cold water pushed in. Saw 67 on the top and 40 deg down 20ft to the bottom out in front of Olcott. Was a good east wind for two days. What do you guys think happens with this strong NW all day today?
