  1. Would 100' of cable on the down rigger be enough to fish Lake Ontario through out the summer. If not could you put longer cables on the down rigger? I am looking at buying a manual down rigger and it comes with 100' of cable and its max weight is 8lbs..
  2. I will be in the area trying for Browns also.. Hopefully things get better by this weekend. If the Browns don't cooperate I will try using a Dipsy diver for some Lakers
  3. I was out there for 6 hours.. Didn't catch a brown.. Seems like the brown trout is non existent this year so far... Seems like everyone has switched to lake trout.. Make sure you have a backup plan in case the brown don't cooperate..

  6. Is wire a must for Salmon or can I use Braided line? Adk1thanks for sharing the Northwoods whole sale outlet. I am checking out the website now and they got some good deals.
  7. Can I use Hammerhead cowbells without downriggers? Like using braided line and a dipsey diver?
  8. Thanks ripper5!! Unfortunately the axle on my trailer needs to be replaced and the trailer is in the shop do no boat for me for a little while. I was hoping to try stuff out to see what works.. I will keep reading reports.. Hopefully I will be back on the water soon!!
  9. Thanks!! I have family and friends from Philadelphia coming to visit me up at Fort Drum at the end of this month and I need to figure out how to catch some fish in lake Ontario.. I don't want to disappoint them... Never heard of cow bells but just did some reading on them!! Thanks!!
  10. This is my first year fishing lake Ontario and have been unable to catch some browns. It looks like Lakers are biting so I think I am going to give it a try. I will be trying to use Dipseys. What lb test should i use? Braided right?

  12. I launched from Mexico Point yesterday. I trolled from Mexico Point to the Salmon River. I caught a Atlantic Salmon (I think it was a Atlantic Salmon) on a Rapala Fire tiger stick bait off of planner board.. Very slow day. The morning started off so foggy...
  13. I am thinking about hitting that area tomorrow. I am not sure exactly where I am going to go. Mexico point? Stony creek? I am a newbie so hopefully I catch something!! I will let you know.
  14. Thanks for all the advice everyone !! I went to Oswego with the family and it was too cold and windy for them. We were in the Harbor for a little while but we didnt catch anything. I will have to go back without the family and try again. I have to see when i can get back on the water and post a open seat to get someone with experience to go with me...
  15. I am from the Fort Drum Area and plan on trying some spring Brown Trout fishing for the first time this weekend (26 April 2015) Any suggestions on where to launch and fish. I was thinking about Oswego or Mexico Bay. I have a 19' boat with 90hp motor. I have been reading a lot about spring Brown Trout on the forum and I am ready to give it a try. I just joined the Forum today and I am thankful for the wealth of information on here.
